MB Quart or BA Pro's (search is too extensive)

Okay guys, sorry to bring this up again, but the search brought up too many threads and I'm still not clear on which is better.
Spyfish007 - I hear that 6.5's fit up front and then they don't unless you modify the openings. Seems every car could be different! I listen to mostly house music, r&b and hip-hop and plan to have 2 8's or 10's in the rear.
I heard the MB's are to bright and the BA's are warmer, which is what I preffer.
Any insight is great and please tell me which model's to get (pro series or not for exam.) and best place online to buy........I'll install myelf.
Thanks in advance.........

If you like the heavy/hard rock with lots of cymbols OR lots of techno then consider the MB else go with the BA proseries. I prefer the overall of the sound of the BA proseries to the MB quartz. I would recommend the 6.5 or the 6.5^3 Boston systems. It all depends on how much work you are willing to do with the 6.5^3 being more work than the 2-way 6.5 system.

MB Quarts are WAY too bright. Very accurate speakers, but the sound of the tweeters can be overwhelming with some music. They really scream at you, causing your ears to ring! If I had to do it all over again, I'd go with Boston.

the mb mids are great, but the tweeters are WAAAYY too harsh on the ears. overall, they are not very efficient with the power that they receive...

i have used and competed with BA pro seperates for 8 years now. what more needs to be said..

Louis: I know guys who can't get enough tweeter normally and the MB quartz suits them just fine. If you hadn't said you competed for 8 years I would have told you all about placement ... but I'm sure you already know!

Thanks!

Thanks for the speedy replies......so I'm going to get the BA pro's.....any last minute instructions for fitting 6.5's up front? Cutting? Tweeter placement (I used to put sticky tape on the backs of the tweeters already hooked up and experimented with placement around the doors/dash before I chose a mounting point) for the front stage?

You should be able to cut the back out of the speaker mount and get the 6.5" to fit. Definately play around with tweeter placement. You can squeeze speaker wire through the stock MOLEX connector in the door. In each corner there is room for new wire to be shoved through. That will allow for new wire for 6.5 and tweeter if you find the door works best for the tweeter. I found the kick panel was better than the dash, but never tried the door on a 2-way setup. The BA pro's also come with an axis mount that might be worth trying as well. I always seem to like the angle mount. Oh yeah, to test location get some really good 3M double sided tape .. the stuff body shops use ... it sticks much better than the Home Depot foam stuff.

Also, I'll be getting the 3 way system now I think....I bought some Blitz's so I was saving. Any idaes on where to mount the mid-bass speaker? How many watts rms are you pushing them with? I want to use just these and have 2-10" JL audio's in the hatch. How's this seem? Thanks.............

Personally, I have BA Speakers and a BA 10" Sub with a Pioneer head unit on my Z.....the sound is okay IMO. Remember that if you want good sounds....you need a fairly good pair of speakers....but the amplifier....don't bother saving on it. Go straight for a 1000W or more...it'll definately produce good clear sounds.

On the other hand, I've been contemplating on MB Quarts a lot lately...since June 2002. A Lot of peeps out there have MB Quarts yet complaining that it's too screaming....no pun intended...but your amplifier just ain't doing it.....Especially for an FD, the bose wave system is there for a reason. Take them out....add 2 slim amps.....subs are overkill for a small interior like FD...but if you want....feel free....I'll heard some killer sounds with subs....especially if you adore eletronica...

My dream setup for now:

MB Quarts 169 KDC I reckon
Alpine CDA 7995 MP3 Player
Another pair of MB Quarts for the rear....

Anyways...whatever you choose.....decided on your amp first....I've worked out my "home" audioparadise....it's time to save up for the components on the FD...

Thanks for the advice....I don't like titanium tweeters in general so I chose the BA's instead.
The 1000W thing is somewhat correct. But it's overkill. I agree that you are trying to say more wattage is clearity but in this case, the stage can be reproduced with much less. Maybe higher end systems with more of a staging area would be suitable.....
The 2 slim amps........is that with the 1000W amp or by itself? My old FC I had 2 amps....1 front spkrs/1 subs. My stage wasn't the best so I would like rears this time but I think the hatch might sound too crowded or something......

Also, I'm looking at the JL 300/4 amp to push the fronts and subs? Any experiences?
