Making a spoiler - Fiberglass
Making a spoiler - Fiberglass
I'm getting ready to put my mariah mode one kit on my '85 and I think it'll look better with a small spoiler. Mariah wants $400+ shipping for their wrap around that fits the mode one and I'm not willing to spend that much for a little piece of fiberglass. I've been doing some research and my plan is to use high density foam to make the shape of the spoiler, glue it to the car and layer fiberglass over it. Is there anything wrong with doing it that way? I know I need to find a foam that wont be dissolved by the fiberglass resin. Will the fiberglass resin make a strong enough bond to the sheet metal, or do I need to make the spoiler off the car and glue it on with the same stuff I'm using for the rear fenders? This is the first time I'll be working with fiberglass, got any other tips for me?
Well after I attach the rear fenders to the car I have to mold them in with fiberglass so I'll get a bit of practice there. I know it's completely different skills, but after making my roll cage and welding in new wheel wells I think a little fiberglass work will be easy.
