lower profile pop-ups

Have any of you switched out your stock lamps for a lower profile rectangle lamp? I always liked the pop ups and the sleepy eye look, i was just wondering if anyone has ever tried it.

Garfinkle had rectangle lamps in his 1981gsl, he made the modification , no kit , He said you must use marshals or CB s to get rear clearence, they came up 5 1/4 inches , stock was over 8 inches

T-rex,
A lot of drifters over here do that, but since it wont pass the inspections they use a small computer and with it you can adjust the height of your lights, up or down... On or off..

Thanks dubiosr and Jason.

Jason,
Do you know if these are one off's or if there is a kit?

or does anyone have any ideas on the lamps that I'd need to use?

T-rex with that computer I was talking about, you can still use your original lights, but it will just lower them down.. Nothing else is required, just the computer/dial...

oh, sorry i misunderstood you. I was thinking of using a similar contraption (i think jc whitney sells something along those lines) to adjust the pop-up hight, while using differnent lamps that may possibly have better light patterns.

I think that the sleepy eye look most definetially help hels's with aero drag and overall vision int he front at night. Nothing beats them if you liek the pop-up look.
