please don't forget to post results. I've got my eye on some miata seats.

will do. A buddy is ditching his for some track seats and I'm hoping they've got the same rails and/or mounting points.

Is anyone using some fixed position seats with stock seat belts? My stock seats are shot and I need something to replace them with?

You must be very careful in choosing a seat when doing this. The reason can be viewed from the pic above. If you were trying to use stock seat belts in the above seat, the lab belt does not contact you and in a crash you have the likelihood of submarining. This could be dangerous.

If you like the oem seats and they are just shot, why not get them recovered? New foam and covering would cost the same or a little less (depending on fabric choice) than buying a quality pair of aftermarket seats.

Damn! But, I guess thank you. I was going to pull the trigger on some pole positions this year. How bad do they rub? Do you think if the material was thinner such as cloth instead of leather that they wouldn't?

The shoulder portion isn't bad. The hip/thigh bolster is where it rubs pretty bad. If you shave down the material a little bit on the seat it should be better.I see the car maybe 3-4 times a week and that's all the info I can give. I'm sure if you notch the holes on the bottom and modify it it'll fit better. Maybe if RspecFD chimes in he'll give a better idea on how bad it is.

I bought some recently to try with my Recaro SPG seats. I was disappointed with them for four reasons and have since returned them.

1. The side mounts are welded to the rails so that they do not accommodate multiple width seats. The holes where the rails mount to the floor pan are elongated slightly from side to side to remedy this design flaw.

2. The sliders do not slide back nearly as far as stock. The front of my buckets were about even with the front rail to floor pan bolts. This means there was a good 4-6" of additional space before the bucket would hit the bins. ( I am 6'3")

3. The locking mechanism is only on one side of the rails unlike the stock rails. Meaning one side locks and the other is free to slide back and forth. I am not sure if this would be a problem but it seemed like an inferior design to me.

4. They claim to fit Recaro SPG, but the seat still hits the door enough where I wouldn't use them even if I wasn't too tall for them.

That sucks about the fitment. The rails are advertised at a single lock design so the rail thing is expected. I think that once you narrow down the exact position on it you can drill a hole through the rail on the other side and put a bolt through it to lock it in place. I had an SPA on bride FG rails and it rubbed slightly at the top. I'm only 5'5" so my seat isn't as far back as your's. I would think that you would have the seat pretty far back with you being 6'3". Have you considered Bride FG or IG rails? I'm not sure how much lower they sit compared to the nagisa but I know they're all double lock. Hope you find a setup that works.

I've found that finding seats and rails to fit this car seems to be frustrating for most.

DVO, I have a question about your seats. Shot you a PM.

cal1mr 03-08-11 01:51 PM

We need more info on the pole position set up because that's a great seat. I personally have two that I'm trying to decide what to do with at the moment. Is the seat any lower than stock? Does it line up well with the steering wheel or is it off to the left or something? What's going on with the stock seat belt buckle, I don't see it? Please indulge us.

my additons from my seats

Recaro SRD (same as CTR recaro seats), bottom mount rail. seat bolsters clear

modification need to seat/interior panel needed
removal of the recline knob is a must, will not clear lower rear side interior panel.
when knob is removed, a hole must be trimmed for the stud of the recline knob to clear the panel

bride vios 3 low max, bride VG? rails, when in the full-back position touches the door panel. clears doorpanel if you move it closer to the steering wheel.

A few month back I saw a pic of Elise seats installed in a FD. They looked good but can't find the pictures. From the research I have done, they run for a bout $750 a set in the Lotus forum. I know I fit in them (5'11" 210 lbs) so I'm considering them.

There is also this option but it seem to be a Euro market

I've also seen people use 911 seats as well as s2000 seats.

MR_Rick 03-10-11 09:33 PM

Which 911 seats? GT3s? I hope not the regular ones because they don't offer much support and they are HEAVY.

Would like to see s2000 seats.

510_rx7 03-11-11 05:11 PM

has anyone ever tried putting in the integra type-r recaro in their car yet?

Possible seating option for the FD

3 Attachment(s)
I came across another possible seating option for the FD. I haven't seen any measurements for the seats, but it appears that the seats don't stick out in the shoulder area which is a problem area when trying to get aftermarket seats to fit in the FD.

One thing that concerns me is that they are not FIA certified, but it seems that the manufacturer may be trying to address that issue.

I have no idea about price , but from the way they look if you have to ask you probably can't afford them.

Oh yeah, they weigh 6 lbs.

Not all track events check for fia certification. Also, those people that are going to these types of events regularly probably don't have an interior or door panels so clearances are less of a problem. Most would get some recaro SPG or bride zeta 3 seats and be done with it.

How would a harness wear out those holes on the headrest? That seat looks to be for cosmetic and "baller" status anyway

DriftDreamzSS 03-14-11 01:36 AM

If it's made by hpf it's probably ridiculously over priced. It's crazy what that company charges for turbo kits.

Rxmfn7 03-14-11 01:38 AM

I think they are less than $2k a piece. Not cheap by any means, but I think a bit high with no FIA cert. As mentioned though, I dont think anyone interested in these seats would be seriously racing anyway, as they dont look very supportive. Never personally sat in them obviously though.

I agree with everyone's comments, but just thought it might be an interesting option for the FD owner with deep pockets.

Here is a picture showing them with a harness:

Any one using Corbeau FX1 Pro? They are a bit narrower than the regular FX1.

Andrew. 03-14-11 01:43 PM

Does anyone have the STOCK seat dimensions?
