Planted base with Planted side mounts and Rt1000 is possible, but you would need to shave off a decent amount of the shoulder bolster to fit. This combination also doesn't do anything for tall drivers, seat location is almost the same as OE.

I ended up using Nagisa rails, so that the seat bottom would sit between the rails to get it as low as possible. I also moved the mounting brackets inboard and re-welded. Seat fits perfectly now.

Add another seat to the list that fits with no modifications at all. I just installed an new Sparco EVO QRT seat in my 93 Fd and it couldn't of gone easier. These new line of seats are light weight and have a smaller foot print for smaller vehicles, the shoulder width on this seat is 580mm. Install took all of about 20 min using the Sparco base plate with their standard side rails. The only part of the seat that touches anything is the shoulder bolster BUT when I say touches it I mean JUST touches it when the door is fully closed, absolutely nothing to be concerned about imo. There is no clearance issues at the bottom of the door or all along the trans tunnel. My only complaint with this setup is that the seat sits a tiny bit higher than stock, maybe a 1/4". I might be able to slightly modify the base to bring it down a bit more (still room to go on the side mounts) but I'm going to drive the car first and see how it is. Based on this I would have to say that the QRT-R would also fit as it is slightly smaller still. Anyway, here are some pics...

Will fit:

1. Stock FD / R1 / Cloth / Leather
2. Recaros from the Spirt R / RZ
3. Gias Lowmax
4. Bride Zeta III
5. Bride Vios III lowmax
6. Mazdaspeed Type-F
7. Memoryfab s58
8. Sparco Sprint V
9. Recaro Profi and or SPG ( with slight rubbing to the door but not much, if you use Recaro rails instead of bride it will fit fine)
10. Sparco Roadster
11. Sparco Evo with stock seat rail (Touches doorcard, trim 10mm off shoulder bolster)
12 Sparco Evo QRT with Sparco base and standard side mounts
13. Sparco Milanos
14. Sparco Evo 2 LF (Touches doorcard, trim 10mm off shoulder bolster)
15. Tillett B6F XL 47 (which is the largest Tillett seat, meaning that they should all fit. Has a 30 degree layback angle, which is a little too much IMO. It will fit basically to the floor with the right rails. Probably the best option for REALLY big guys with long arms and short legs. Heavy and expensive, though.).
16. OMP HTE-R 400 (shoulder bolster needs a bit of a trim, mounted with Griffith super low rails mounted to the floor)
17. Bride Gias II Low Max on LR Rails (some rubbing on tranny tunnel making sliding difficult on JDM passenger side, drivers side is perfect fitment)
18. Recaro Pole Position ABE's with Griffiths seat bases. It was a very tight fit with only a slight touch on the drivers side (RHD)
19. Recaro Pole Position FIA with Griffins seat base
20: Recaro Pro Racer Han SPA

Will fit with modifications

1. Corbeau FX1 - fits with seat modification. Corbeau FX1 Install in FD
2. Sparco Evo 2 - - fits with seat modification.
3. Rx-8 seats (can be made to fit by modifying the racks)
4.Cobra Imola (with some minor triming of door side shoulder wing)
5. Sparco Torino 2 (modify the stock rails and get rid of the seat belt buckle they fit (barely))
6. Japanese knockoff of Sparco Pro Drive (shoulders hit the door and leg bolsters will probably rub on the console trim).
7. OMP HTE-R XL (halo would hit the window, both leg bolsters would need to be trimmed, shoulder bolsters seem to fit)
8. Cobra Suzuka Pro GT (only fits driver's side and only after trimming shoulder bolster and both leg bolsters. Non GT model needed for passenger side.)
9: Recaro SRD/Speed (using JP market seat mount/slider) Sliding is limited due to adjustment **** hitting rear panel (very tight fit near tunnel)
10: Evo X Recaro OEM seat (using oem Evo Slider and welding the Fd bracket) (very tight fit and limited adjustment)
11: Corbeau Evo with recline - plug and play using Corbeau mounts/sliders for shorter drivers, but very tight fit. Taller than 5'10, will need serious mods to the rails or bespoke solution

Will NOT fit:

1. Sparco Fighter
2: Recaro Pro Racer Han SPA XL
3: Sparco Evo 2 US

Those Cobra seats look great! It looks online like they don't come with sub-belt holes though is that correct? If so that's a bummer.

Those seats do look great. I would need a tilt rail option though as I have a back seat and actually use it.

Did you gain any head room? How much lower if any are these seats over stock?
Thanks

The 'Planted' seat mounts take the stock seat belt receiver......or you can order them without the mounting tab.

There may be a BRIDE seat rail for the FD that works with Pole Pisitions, but it wouldnt be the "LowMax" rail.

That is because the LowMax system centers the seat to the steering wheel and a wider than Vios III seat will then hit the door interior. You will need a rail that you can use to offset the seat away from the door a bit OR remove the door panel and run a flat race door panel.

No idea on the Nagisa rail.

Just looked at Nagisa rail on RHDJapan. It states will work with seats up to 400mm wide. Pile Position scematic shows it is 500mm wide at seat base and 580mm wide at the shoulders...

they are 500mm wide at the widest point, the mounting points look like they are 406mm wide, so it would be really close it looks like. the bride FG rails look like they have a 395mm width.

Cool, i was just looking at those rails, seem to be the best option to get the seat the lowest possible.

where did you get that seatbelt extension?

This may have been covered, but 30 pages is a lot to read through. I have unusually wide shoulders, but sit a 5'10 and small waist. It there a seat that fits in the car, no rubbing, with a wide or wider should area? My shoulders extend past the edges of the stock seat as is causing me to hunch when driving.

I used one from www.seatbeltextenderpros.com on my S2000, worked great. They list one for the RX7.

The stock seats dont have a shoulder area/support.

Even narrow shoulder race seats like my Bride Vios III touch the door panel at the shoulder area.
My seats are comfortable to me when holding the steering wheel, but not as passenger (shouldets forward vs shoulders back).

Idk how to measure overall shoulder width when your arms cant hang straight down, but mine are around 19" from top of arm bone to arm bone. I have about 3/4" from my shoulder to the door interior sitting in FD with hands on steering wheel and the seat shoulder just touches the door and is a bit under my shoulder at only 5' 8" height.

Ok, so, sounds like I'm out of luck. I'll just keep the window down and arm out. Even a flat back would work, but, I assume that would be uncomfortable in other ways.

I don't see the Recaro RS-G on the list but I imagine it must fit, considering it's narrower than the Cobra Nogaro. Anybody know for sure?
