Poor kid..Let him dream..
Either way, just remember its your car and no matter what you do, there will always be a hater in the crowd.(Most likely someone who cant afford it.)
I think the celica lights make it look demonic! Someone photoshop it in black!!!

not quite. I'm currently in the process of getting one. I just sold my daily driver for an even cheaper daily driver (1999 ford tarus with 60k miles-should get the job done) to allow more financial room for a FD. So if you want to call me a dreamer for now, you'd be semi correct, but theres a change in the works..

Haha I'm not as idiotic or abusive as you may think. I'm pretty sure I'd be able to treat the car correctly. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt here since you know nothing about me and I'll just take a stab that your assuming I'm like every other 18yr old out there. no biggie.

and I'm not attacking the thread starter personally, it's just a dumb ricer decision. I have no idea who this guy is, but if this is one of his first questions he's asking on here then I really have to wonder where his head is at. I'm not saying that you're going to have problems with the car because you'll be stupid with the car, I'm saying it'd be good to have that money around because the 13B-REW is a crazy *** piece of work...it's extremely tempermental and if you mess up just a little bit you'll be wishing you would have saved that money instead of spending it hacking up the front end. Trust me, these things can make you broke really quick if you're not careful

but anyway, thanks for the advice and for your opinion.
So, you know, take it or leave it. I just hate looking around these forums seeing threads like this...threads by excited noobs who want to jump right in the cockpit of an FD without thinking first, then later seeing threads from the same person - "engine died, what do I do?" It's not that it's a bad car, or even a terribly unreliable car...it's just that it needs to be approached in a very specific way to make sure bad things don't happen. That's why it doesn't make sense when I hear about people jumping right in and wondering "where can I get this bodykit?" or "do they make clear taillights?" or "do X racing seats fit in the FD?" etc - all asked before they get their car like they are creating some sort of master shopping list. I just know those are the people who are skimming over the important stuff. Who will say, "eh, what the hell..I'll just throw on a full exhaust - it won't hurt anything" only to have their engine run lean, detonate, and be left with a $5000 bill to repair the problem. If there is one set of drawbacks with the rotary...especially the rotary in the FD...is that 1) they need a precise A/F ratio at all times or something extremely bad will happen, 2) it needs to remain as cool as possible to prevent bad things from happening, and 3) if something bad happens it generally means having to rip out the old engine, rebuild, and reinstall.
So, anyway, as a million people have said, it's (going to be) your car, and your money...do with it as you will. I can just tell you with 100% certainty, however, that in this place you will get more respect and more attention if you have a perfectly clean, stock looking FD with smart mods than if you put a big spoiler on, a bodykit, huge wheels, crazy light setups, etc...at least from the people who are worth anything.
Good luck

Good to hear you're planning the right way - sorry I initially mistook what you were asking. I love the '99 spec conversion...if I were to do another FD I would have that in IBM. Best of luck to you

As do I. They are appealing to me IMO. just like the lights (no comparison to a 99 spec conversion tho). Glad were on good terms, or so I hope. I'm really not a bad guy, or a stereotypical 18yr old (as hard as that is to a lot of people lol). Once again thanks for the help.
