Light experts- who knows how to do this celica light conversion?
So which one of you experts knows the process of doing the celica light conversion. I found my avatar online, and I found out from a couple guys on the forum that the lights on the FD are actually from a celica. This has apparently been done a couple times.
I personally don't know the process, how to do it, the cost, the amount of body work, etc that would go into a project like that and everyone has been asking, so I figured I'd start a thread about it.
I feel it's a unique look so if anyone has information on a project like this, please feel free to add, and I'll update if I find anything else out..

wow, i haven't heard this post in a while. put your flame suit on. good luck.
i hope this is a joke; but if its not, at least put lights on it from a car thats worth taking lights from:
(note- it is your car. so do whatever you want to do with it. just dont expect much support from the RX-7 community.)

honestly, i think the Celica headlights look kinda cool in a "wtf is that evil looking thing?" kind of way... but i'd never consider hacking up a perfectly good FD to do it. i think FD's look best with the stock headlights (lights down, of course).
basically you'll have to hack up a hood, and bumper, make up some brackets, and do a lot of work to get everything to fit right. have fun writing the check for this kind of project.

Haha alright guys, It's all a matter of opinion. Honestly, I think the celica lights look pretty damn good, but the porsche lights look horrid. If that deserves a flame then so be it. I was just asking the process because I have been receiving countless pm's about how to do it, etc. I didn't ask the opinion of everyone on the forum, and I never said I was going to do it.
So back to my original question, if anyone knows how to do this, I know for a fact a lot of guys on the forum (including myself) would like to know the kind of work that needs to be put in.
(note- I don't own a 7, so I don't expect much anyway.)

That's a lot of molding work done in the first picture. I made the mistake of molding in the front bumper of my celica, and while it looked very clean, it makes maintenance a bitch.

Thanks, I'm so close I know it, but I'll take all the luck I can get right now.. ps I also agree about not even needing a light switch. I just saw that picture and thought they were pretty eye appealing and was wondering what it took to accomplish the look.
Hahah. So I realize the consensus around here is a "no". A lot of molding and body work seems a little too difficult for the average car enthusiast, so most will probably pass on a project like this, but it's always good to know. Thanks for all those who actually answered the question

Yeah, not being able to take off the bumper is a PIA. Makes working on anything that's in the front of the car nearly impossible unless you tunnel down through the engine bay. You can see on this pic where I had fender flares molded in along with the bumper. It looked nice, or at least I thought so, but it's really not practical unless it's going to only be a show car.

What do you mean it makes maintince a bitch? And do you have any pics you'd like to share?

It's like everyone else said. All about the owners opinion in this case..
