Here are a couple pics of my CYM getting some Pettit Fender Flares molded on. Definitely not cheap going this route, but looks very clean. Make sure a qualified body shop does the molding -- using quality fiberglass, bondo, body filler, etc. You also have to decide on whether to have the cutout for the gas cap or relocate the gas refueling assembly. I had the rear side markers and gas cap shaved (welded the holes for the side markers and gas cap). The welding tends to warp the thin rear quarter panel. So to properly blend the fender flares is extremely time consuming. Good luck with whatever route you decide to take. Nothing attracts attention like 335s in the rear .

Not a big fan of the blended pettit flares. Your MB FD looks great with the flares just screwed on. I'l be usiing 335/35/17's for my tire size, should work well on the street and on the course.

Is this your car Single7? This picture has been on my desktop for a year before i've owned my 7; it was my inspiration for buying one.

You could just make sheetmetal copies of the pettit ones if you are worried about the edges cracking. It would be difficult and time consuming but worth it in my opinion. And you do have to cut the stock fender, just make it clean and then paint the edge so they don't rust. Take it easy man. I will have 335's on mine by winter time.

Hey Apex_Sideways,

Yes that's my car... with a couple minor changes now but pretty much looks very similiar.

Hey Black Magic,

Most cars that use the fender flares without the option for the fuel tank door usually have a fuel cell in the rear of the vehicle. On my blue care, I have to open the rear hatch and open a fuel cell (26 gallons) to fill up gas. I'm not sure how I want to do the CYM yet - I don't want to have to use a Sparco/Audi type gas cap door since there are not many flat body panels on the rear quart panel to put one. I've already shaved the gas cap door since I don't like the look of the fender flare with the gas cap cut out.

Here are two pics of my blue car. One with my friend's Comptech widebody NSX.

I thought the pettit fenders were good for 12" tires? I've got 10 inches on stock fenders with no problems, why not get wider?

Um, last i measured, 315 is 12 & 1/4inch wide. Im ditching the 315's on my rims and going to run 335's which are 13inches wide. LOL, i think you read it wrong or something.

Awesome Single7, I'm glad i've had the chance to talk to the person who owns that car. I hope to someday have to ability to build something of that caliber. Is it a track only car or a street car?

I'm having the Pettit flares installed as we speak. Should be able to pick up the car in the next few days and I'll post pics for you. As for the gas door, Pettit now makes a set of flares that has the gas door location cut out. In other words, you can install the flares and still use the stock gas door location. 335s will fit but everything has to be shaved correctly.

FYI - I went with 18 X 12.5" on the recommendation of Pettit.

FYI - I'm going to have a metal worker copy my Pettit flares in sheet metal and then weld these to the car. The downside that I know of regarding the Pettit flares is that the chip over time from rocks. If you don't mold them in then it's pretty easy to unbolt them and have them repainted.

I prefer the molded look however, so my solution is to have metal flares made.

I think it looks better not mold it to the car. Just bolt top of the rear panel is better
