Leather Drivers Seat Fix / Antenna Q's

Anyone have an extimate on how much it would cost to get the leather fixed/replaced for the left bubble (I forget what it's really called) in the driver's bucket seat? X-tra wear seems to be a regular occurance.

Also I just bought the car and an aftermarket stereo was installed, but the antenna was never hooked up. so I can't get any FM reception. is it difficult to do? would it make any sence NOT to hook it back up? just looking for some insight why it wasn't done.

Thanks

You'll have to pull the head unit to hook up the antenna. It's weird that the person installed in didn't do that. There are two antenna wires. One for regular reception, the other is for diversity reception.

On the leather seat, just get some estimates at a few upholstry shops. The factory leather actually has the tan or black color sprayed on so it rubs off easily. Also, the leather wears out quick too. Ask how the shops repair it. It's probably between $100-300, depending on how the repair is done. Just make sure that they use leather of same texture and color if they do replace the side bolster. If the whole seat isn't in good shape, it may be worth while to replace all surfaces but that could get expensive. Good luck!

My father just had parts of his tan leather seats in his Vette redone over the summer by a shop. It was about $170 per part (depending on the size), but they look brand new now. My FD also has the tan leather seats with that little section worn, so I'll be looking to have that done after winter.

leather seat repair

I had the same peice done on the drivers seat in my car (side bolster), it cost $150 to do. they replaced the leather peice and re-painted the entire seat to match.

But I found something that that may help you, the cost for me to order parts from the US are too high due to the exchage rate otherwise I would have already ordered the seat parts. I'm in Canada.

These guys have a good selection of parts for the RX7, new factory sealed parts and they sell over the net, just choose the car, and follow the links to the 'clearance items', near the bottom is a bunch of replacement upolstery items...even entire seats!
