About $3500 USD per door. Not sure what RE charges to do it.

Someone get me info on how much the kit costs. I've got a body shop down here that said we're gonna try it. I'm gonna pay him a couple hundred bucks and materials (a really good friend)... Someone give me the info.... I want those doors. Is that red one an fc? That damn car almost looks better than the FD!

What do I have to buy?

As far as I know, there is no "kit". The shop will have to frabricate what they need to make it happen.

There are some shops in Japan that sell carbon fiber doors for the FD that would probably work well for something like this, however, it could be a pain getting the doors here. I think it's Panspeed or something like that who has the doors...

RX-7 Flip up doors

I investigated this further. Not only are there cost implications but it would be impossible to insure as these doors would not be approved in North America. So why invest thousands with no guarantee?

Too bad though.

Who cares about the insurance issues, most people who have FD's have all kinds of stuff on them that isn't allowed by the insurance company. When I have the extra cash I'm going to get a set of carbon fiber Panspeed doors and get that done.

Honestly, I think carbon fiber doors are a requirement for this mod (but don't quote me on that). I think the stock doors are too heavy for it.

I believe that price of $3500 per door was just for the work and the frabrication of the door hinges. I think you still need to purchase the doors themselves.

Hi canman6969,

Are those FRP doors just the outside doorskins with a permanently fixed position lexan window or are they doors that allow you to use the stock windows and internals? Thanks - Tommy

i think ill take u up on that offer

on another note, it looks like ill be able to afford one lambo-door after this summer, so at car shows ill just pop the drivers door and lock the passenger door. Damn, im crafty(or maybe cheap, the jury is still out on that)

Hey Single,
I missed this a LONG time ago.... The whole door it CF or FRP, and you just put in the guts to your stock door, it bolts right in..

I'm not so sure about this ebay guy, but someone does make a conversion kit because there is a company called K1 styling that make conversion kits for Cameros and Trans-AMs. They claim that everything is bolt on and I believe they will be displaying this spring at Carlisle, PA. Here'e a pic of the Camero, and this is with heavy *** stock doors so tey claim. http://www.k1-styling.sk/evo2/exterior/03a.jpg

I'm in Delaware and I'd love to check it out when its done. Scissor doors are something I'd be willing to spend the money on for my car. I've been dreaming about that mod since I saw the first conversion done to other cars. What about the price?
