Lambo Doors

I was checking out the lambo coversion door kits. Most of the ones i saw u have to open the door then push it up. However auto-loc has a system that opens the door for u with the alarm pad. But they dont have a list of cars it works on. Is it a one size thign fits all? Does any1 know of any other brand that has this type of system because i dont trust auto-loc too good..If any1 has done this mod to your car plz give me some ino and pics. thnx guys

Well the kit says it adds 33lbs. I have enough power to sacrifice that..it wont affect me too much. I will admit it is kind of ricy btu in my opinion it makes it look exoctic. Not that teh rx7 isnt already..but its just a lil bang to it. Any1 else know of any conversion kit with the keyless entry?

I own a body shop and have installed Autoloc's lambo doors on a few hondas - let me just say excellent units and they are a universal design, much, much, much fabricating is required, the bill for installation on a 98 Prelude was $4200cdn. (2900 for the kit at a labour rate of 47.50) as far as required time for a rex installaition, never done one. i only shelled out for the shaved door handle kit thus far...but let me just say that autoloc's **** is the bomb, that company IS crazy aftermarket door stuff so if your gonna do lambos or even suicide(cheaper and more rare) go with the autoloc

they're coming out with a VLS (Vertical Lift System) kit that opens up and OEM... should be ready in March I think.... plus it's $1500-1600 and can be installed in your garage by you, so no labor fee's!

That Import Precision guy... I know him. His wife Holly named the company that. He's getting paid fat stacks to sit in a chair in an office in Florida and draw stuff. I think. His 3000GT has unpainted body parts, though.

Be original and do a door-conversion that opens downward, like a truck bed

Wow, there is a huge thread about all of the lambo door options and specs and stuff. And the release date of the import precision rx-7 kit is sometime in february I think. Here is a link to one of the threads about it.

....it's marix, and yeah, I know i was right

Edit: Yeah, I agree with r0t0r-rooter, go with the downward doors.... although they're not practical, and you would have to roll down the window every time you got out so that you wouldnt step on the glass.... other than that, it would be pretty cool.... be about the same as having Gull Wing doors: Have to park at the back of the parking lot so that you could open your doors!

LOL... sorry but as soon as I saw "autoloc" i had to post, it is the worst looking kit you will ever see. they have it swing out then start to go up and it's all over the place. i would not put it on my car if they gave it to me.
this is the vid

arrrgh.
gull wing doors, delorean doors, whatever you want to call them, hinge from way in the middle of the roof, and therefore only about 12" to 18" is required to open the door. You can get out of a Delorean easier than you can a Camaro, for god's sake.

This reminds me of that video clip that is on some manufacturer's site for these things - when the door was going down and it looked all jerky, and then at the end the guy had to close it with his hand....pretty damn funny.

HaH yeah that was the autoloc kit. Not the best way to promote the product IMO.

you would have to cut into the roof to do it just like a delorean, and if there was a sunroof, it would have to be removed. I'm just saying if you found a gull wing kit to bolt on with minor fabrications it would take a ******* lot of room to get out of the car.

First anti-rice rule: don't make your car try to be something else... i.e skyline kits on accords, etc. LAMBO DOORS DON'T MAKE YOUR CAR A LAMBO! ALSO PEOPLE DON'T JUST BUY LAMBOS BECAUSE OF THE DOORS!

who said someone wanted to make their car a lambo? all i've heard of is someone wanting vertical doors on their car... what's the difference in wanting vertical doors and wanting a '99 spec tail light / front bumper conversion??? if you're car isnt a 99 then why try to make it that? it's called customization if you've never heard of it then i'll define it for you.
Customization: The act or process of customizing.
customizing is the same for visual as it is for performance, so unless you have a 100% bone stock car, STFU&DIEPLZTHXKK

VLS Doors

I am thinking of getting VLS doors. The main reason is so that it will be easier to get in and out of the car if someone parks close to mine. Since the VLS door open OEM as well as up that should work. Does anyone have experience with the VLS doors? Do you have a close up shot of that hinge mechanism?
