You guys arent talking about me, right?

http://www.importprecision.com/vls_gallery_rx7.htm

There's some pictures of ours. Latest update I have is that the engravers were taking a bit of time, but hopefully at the end of the month I'll be able to take orders.

No, they are talking about FDnewbie. I don't understand what takes so long to snap one picture. He keeps putting it off.

JUST TAKE ONE ****** PICTURE. You don't need to prep your car and detail to take one picture of your doors.

I really dont understand you guys. Wut's the big deal if it's taking a little while to get the pics you want? I thought most of you thought the VD kit was garbage anyways??

Lemme state this for the record, so we can all be clear. I took some preliminary pics, but I can't post them. Thankfully, I received a GREAT deal of support from certain vendors throughout this process of building my car...esp. in parts. Part of the agreement with them is that all pics posted and taken of my car will have their logo on it. I'm sure that's something you can understand.

The pics I have don't have the logo on them. They were *preliminary* pics. The second I get the decals and put them on, you'll have your pics - which should be any day now. But no sooner. Capeche?

I don't mean to leave you guys hanging, but my word is my honor, and I have no plans of breaking it. (Oh, and for the record, I received absolutely NO support from VD lol...despite what some of you thought.)

That, and, it's not like VLS has their kit out and you guys are waiting to make a choice between the two. The VLS kit is still in production. So relax, k?

Oh and Fumanchu, take a deep breath... and count to three...

If you can't take a picture and post it on the forum because you don't have stickers for your sponsors, thats the most idiotic thing I have ever heard. I can see magazines or official photo shoots but the forum? Come on.

I was sponsored for years with my last show cars and never once did they say **** like that. I had to rock stickers at the shows but they could care less what I did outside the show scene. These were big name sponsors like VIS, Audiobahn, Meguiars and Ichibahn.

The reason I called you out is you have been saying in numerous threads that you will post pictures and months later you have produced not one. I don't even know if you have a FD.

So, why can't you produce one simple picture of your car and post in on the forum?

I dunno why your temper flared like that. It's not like I owe you anything. I'm volunteering to post pics of my car on the forum. I'll get them out ASAP. Period. What monumental difference will it make if it's now and today vs. in a few more days??

What you consider idiotic I consider an agreement. I'm sure my sponsors won't burn me and kick me to the curb if I just post the pics I have now, but on the same token, if I can wait a few more days for decals that are on their way as we speak, what's the problem? I think it's a matter of respect for the huge help they've been to me, and I don't mind waiting it out.

Yes, I've promised pics in more than one thread, but anyone who's building a showcar knows the INCREDIBLE amount time and effort that goes into it, and the gazillion and one small minor last minute things that drag out the process. I'd hoped to get my car back much sooner than I did, but it wasn't in my hands. I haven't had my car in 5 months, and just recently got it back. So don't even mention waiting and being patient.

One of the many tiny delays was the decals, since the one I originally had was gonna get me pulled over, since here in VA they're real **** about what stickers can be placed on the car and where. But then again, that's prob. all mumbo-jumbo I'm makin up, cuz I prob. don't even own an FD, and everything I've said has been total BS. Now I just gotta figure out what to do w/ all these FD parts I've bought, cuz I have no car for them to go on...

PS: Instead of PMSing, try being polite. You'll get much better results -- esp. when you're on the asking end.

I still think the sponsorship thing is ridicules but I guess it's your decision to be bent over for them. The whole reason I got out of the show scene was the lame politics that are involved. It takes the fun out of it. You'll see once you have been in long enough.

Also, I could care less about you lambo doors. I am not interested in buying a kit. I guess when I say I am going to post pics, and people are relying on them, I would get it done in a reasonable time.

I don't want this to end up like the argument between you and Deft, so I am out from this point on.

So good luck with your car and be sure to wipe your nose off or it will start to stink.

I have trouble believing that when you have no parts on your car from Audiobahn and Ichibahn. Anyway, I agree with FDNewbie, what I believe you are failing to grasp is the importance on honor and integrity. He gave his word to the people who made this kit and thats more important than anything you can say or force him to do.

Fumanchu, I'm def. not looking for an argument either. And beleive it or not, I do see merit to your side. But I would like to believe that people would understand my side of the story once they've heard the circumstances - like Louis. Thanks for that.

I honestly really do feel indebted and a LOT of gratitude...cuz I'm not a baller. I don't make madd loot. And when someone invests big cash in parts that I want in hopes of advertising return, I feel I should do every effort I can to aid them in that...whether they know about it or not, whether they explicitly state it or not.

I understand your point about the strings attached w/ sponsorships. But that's why I never aim to get complete sponsorships. Too many strings attached, too much politics. I like partial sponsorships. I'll do this and that for you if you give me these parts or pay for this or that. Only stuff I WANT. I'm not putting all your funky experimental parts on my car...leave the judgement up to me, and I promise you you won't be disappointed. That's exactly the kind of deal I have, and I'm very VERY happy with it.

As for the argument w/ me and Deft, that's over and done with. We worked out our differences, and it's been resolved.

The last comment you made about the nose thing, I honestly dunno how to take it cuz I'm not sure exactly what you were implying. I figure I'll give you the benifit of the doubt and just let it be - no further questions asked.

Again, hopefully I'll have pics ASAP.
Thanks for everyone's patience and I'm sorry for the delays which are simply out of my hands.

True..honor your agreement.

Also, I could care less about you lambo doors. I am not interested in buying a kit.
Then why worry about pics?

Still waiting, albeit patiently. Take your time FDNewbie...just not too much.

Got a chance to see and inspect Jay Laubs car up close. The vertical doors open very smoothly, lift up effortlessly. They were pretty damn SOLID.

LOL...crucial

At the risk of posting w/o my pics lol... i just wanted to slip in that's why i preferred the VD kit...cuz the doors go up as close to the body as possible...swept back, not sticking out.

Pics are coming REAL soon. Promise.

I agree, the one thing I don't like about these "kit" style conversions is that the door has to open up practically as far as it would normally, so it makes the whole verticle lift kind of pointless. I think the problem is the stock fd door panel (especially the driver's side) because they stick out (actually in to the cockpit of the car) so much. In order for that to clear the body of the car, the door has to be open a pretty good amount. IMO I think that a good conversion would require a modification to the door panel so that the door could open up only a couple of inches before going up.

Kevin, I understand what you're saying, but 2 things:

Both the VDC and VD kit don't open outward even nearly as much as stock in order to open vertically. I dunno exactly how much the VDC kit opens outward (in vertical mode) but im pretty sure it's not much, and ditto w/ the VD kit. I barely can squeeze out w/ the doors open as far out as they go. But I personally like the barely part, simply because it CAN be done if I have to, or simply don't desire any additional attention. But rest assured, it's no where near as far out as stock. There's a world of difference. I'm sure Bill will agree w/ me on that.

The other thing is, the problem actually isn't so much the door panel itself. It's more of the tight fit of the fender, door, and chassis. The door must open outward in order for the door frame itself to clear the A-pillar up on top, and for the front edge of the door to clear the rear edge of the fender. Those are the two major contact points you need to negotiate effectively in order to allow vertical motion smoothly.

As was previously mentioned, in order to move the doors almost completely vertically, w/ barely any outward motion, you'd literally have to cut away part of the A-pillar, and a good amount of the rear fender as well.

Bottom line, that absolute vertical motion is like $10K of work. Good luck w/ that lol.

LOL...damnit I KNEW someone was gonna post soon enough. Man...i dunno where to hide my face.

Believe it or not, the decals that were sent to me like over a week ago (almost 2 weeks ago) never got here. Stupid mail system...things always get lost w/ my mail. So they were sent out AGAIN last night via UPS this time. So I should def. have them by the end of this week.

Hopefully by mid-week, I'll have a whole rack of pics for ya (I say midweek cuz it's forcasted to rain every day of this week through Sunday...)

PS...just for the unbelievers in the crowd hehe...quite a few people on the forum have seen my car, so yes, it exists (Revsteve, DontBeARikki, 7-Sins)

evot23, this update's just for you hehe

I drove through the 5th worst traffic in the NATION today to get the stupid stickers put on. Hopefully, I'll take some pics tomarrow and post 'em.

On a side note, if anyone is even half-decent w/ photoshopping/chopping pics and would like to help me cut/paste/insert the decal into the better pictures I already have, that would be great =) Just PM me.

EDIT: damn, it's raining here tomarrow. photochoppers, I'm all ears!
