Man, some people can be so ****.

If he wants to do it that's his perogative, I wouldn't personally, but to each their own. Everyone does have the right to an opinion and freedom of expression, etc, but there are ways to communicate that without sounding like an ***.
YayeR makes a good point in the post above, if you pay $1600 dollars for this, you'll get a $1600 dollar job.

Good luck.

I see how very informed you are. There is NO KIT, you have to have your car shipped to Japan and have R.E. do the conversion for you. If he or anyone else wants to do something to their cars, don't call it ridiculous, stay the hell out of a topic if it bothers you. People are really sick of this bashing bull, keep your coments to yourself if you don't have any help for the ones asking for it.

I don't have a problem with anyone doing whatever they want with their own car. I'm not interested in lambo door conversions personally, but I don't have a problem with someone else wanting to do it.

Now that that is out of the way, that company's WEB SITE is ricey.

LOL, R.E. needs to update their site. Seriously, as long as I can remember it's always been that way. A pain in the *** to find things on. For God sake, seperate the products search into categories!

We love R.E., right? Heh!

And Max, I totaly agree with your bro, to me it's always been "To each his own" and that's how it's always gonna stay. But I just can't stand when people post in topics and have nothing better to do than criticise.

Another thing, others shouldn't look at people's post counts and determine their status using that. I've been into the rotary for years and was browsing this forum since it got started. Now I see these new kids with 100 bullshit posts telling other to can it. Every one of you TRUE newB's should just relax and take notice, do some research before posting crap.

Okay, I'm done!

Hi there everyone,

I'm Bill from importprecision.com. We will be releasing a VLS (vertical lift system) specifically designed for the RX7. You can see pics of our kit at the website... it opens both vertically AND oem. It should sell for around $1500 like our 3000GT/Stealth kit.

I'm new to the RX7 forum, but I'll be happy to answer any questions anyone might have. We don't have a release date just yet.... but its coming up.

I love the interior section..lol...every other thread is about rice somewhere.

I love the door conversion on the RE car.

Bill, I see you have Jay's car on your website. I saw the car in Super Street and I wondered who did the conversion for him. Last time I saw his car was ealier this year.

I think I'd have to see the car in person with the conversion to know if I'd really want my car done that way.

Looking forward to seeing more of the pics of Jays 7.

That's a crazy looking FD, but it's not the same as RE's conversion... I keep thinking that I want to do it myself with one of the US kits, but the doors come out too much... unlike the RE doors that go straight up...

Thank you for explaining that!

Man that is a sweet RX7.... makes me want to get one.

That kit doesn't happen to open up both ways does it? My kit opens both OEM and up depending on how you have a latch.

I didn't know there was a lambo door kit out already.... any idea on price?

There isn't a lot of information about the RE conversion as it is not a kit. RE does the conversion themselves. That conversion I believe is from around '98. They have a newer one for their widebody kits:

I doubt the doors in the first photo open OEM style. If you look closely at the door, you'll see that the door doesn't look OEM. I'm guessing it's a CF door to lighten what needs to be lifted. The newer conversion obviously doesn't open OEM, however I don't know why you would want that functionality if you went to the expense to have vertical doors. It's rumored that the RE conversion is around $10k, however, I don't think anyone from the US has ever shipped their car over to Japan for the conversion to verify the price.

If you could create a kit that opens "vertical", you'd definitely have a better chance of selling more kits to US FD owners. Most FD owners are hesitant of turning their cars into Civic look alikes.

ahh, thats a much better shot to show its actualy workings. I understand your "why on earth would you spend the dough" question.

I have the VLS kit on my car, and it's my daily driver. I have the driver set to open vertically, and the passenger set for OEM. I do this to make it easy on my passenger/my girl/my friends to get in and out.

Of course for photo shoots, I flip the lever over and they both go vertical.

We do have a kit already adapted to the RX7 (should sell for around $1500)... and we are just perfecting it, testing it. We don't want to release something we don't think is top notch.

Thanks again for the pictures. Not sure if you know, but I have a 3000GT Spyder (the one on our site) but seeing these pics makes me want a RX7.... what a great looking car!

Well, if you want something top notch which will actually sell in the RX-7 community, make them go straight up vertically like the RE conversion, not outwards.

If you read the other threads here about the scissor/gull wing/vertical doors (whatever people want to refer to them as), most people here dislike the doors that don't go straight vertical.

I'm not saying your kit sucks, I'm just trying to help as to what most FD owners would buy. Most of them would spend the extra money for the doors if they are done right. However, at $1600 or so for doors that open like the ones in the picture, you'll only get the few highschool FD owners.

Hey Bill, I think that your kit looks awesome. Could you post a video of yours opening and maybe closer pics of the black car?
