Just venting..

Decided to post this here instead of the Suspension/Wheels/Tires/Brakes section... Anyway, after much deliberation I decided to get some authentic ZG flares for my FB. I run on staggered Enkei Apache IIs: 7" 38et front with 20mm spacer (to clear GC coilovers) and 8" 25et rear. Rubbers are Falken 912s @ 205/50 front and 225/50 out back. I was lucky, the required spacers in front moved the fronts out 20mm which is roughly 3/4" so the stagger is still there but more subtle which I'm okay with... I rolled the fenders and dropped it to the level you see in my sig with rubbing over bumps from rear only. I have adjustable KONI yellows and spring rate is 300lb front and 150lb rear.

My goal is to completely eliminate all fender rubbing and increase my front and rear track a bit more while being able to go another inch or so lower than I am now, cause it'll be even better handling and look fly (yes fly). Classic ZG fender flares will allow me to meet both of these goals, the only issue is I'm ******* reeaaaallyy hesitant about hacking into my fenders which these flares require to do this properly. My 7 is super cherry with 52k miles and an unmolested interior. I'm skilled but a real shade tree kinda guy.. I don't even weld yet, so while I kinda feel capable my ******* is firmly clenched when I consider angle grinding out my rust free and relatively ding-free vintage bodywork.

Maybe I'll just grab front and rear fenders from a partout and cut those instead of the stockers. Will cost more and will likely have to paint or dip if I can't get black ones, but then at least I won't have destroyed tasty original parts. I've been trying to keep it all reversible... Not sure why though, I'm never selling it and my boy gets it when I croak, so idc about resale or collector value that much. I just want it to be fun, look period-correct bad-*** and handle as well as possible.

So after working this out I think the best course of action is to obtain partout fenders, mount THEM and hack em up while retaining the stockers unmolested.

Thanks guys, the forum always helps!
