Insurance Claim (Change Bumper?)
Just got into an accident last night. Fortunately, only the front bumper is slightly damaged. I'm going to claim insurance but am wondering if I could change the front bumper to let's say...a 99spec? Would the insurance company pay for that? Are there any available? Would it look weird without the sideskirts? I heard that the 99spec combo lights are all out of stock. IS that still true?
Damn! I was just going to sell my car. Somebody is coming to see it tonite!

You might want to PM rx7spiritr. He recently got in an accident, and the other guy's insurance just htrew ~$6k at him to repair/replace whatever was necessary AS LONG as it was OEM. He has since gotten a used 99-spec front end + combo lights + paint job
*anything over the insurance $$ amt he would have had to pay on his own i believe

Yeah, I think the insurance company will cover up to $800, the cost of the stock front bumper, plus 10 hours of labor that a shop would charge to paint the replacement bumper.

Im pretty sure the company will pay the stock price of the original bumper and labor for install and paint. You would just half to cover the extra if it would cost more.

right they will cover the price to replace it with OEM parts. BE very sure to make things clear with the body shop before you let them start working on your car. some of them wont let u put on aftermarket parts because they technically "cheat" and make the insurance companies order those OEM parts through them so they are marked up some. another issue was that the insurance wrote a single check for about 3500 and put the body shops name on it. that also caused problems, becuase i had to pay for the parts out of my pocket and was short a thousand for a few weeks.
