Installing head unit into FD. Harness/Adaper ?

Hi All,
I have only installed one other head unit before and it was on a toyota. I was able to get an adapter to go from the cars wiring harness to fit the head unit I bought. Is this the same case with the FD...are harnesses available or is it going to be a cut/splice/solder type of thing.

Haven't gotten the head unit yet so do you guys have any good internet sources?

goto circuit city, they sell the best kit for this sort of thing because it's all harness based (i.e, no wire splicing)

it's plug and go, you buy one harness for your receiver, and the other for your car, and the two snap together

most you buy one for car one for receiver and then splice wires together

Thanks dude...Another thing I noticed (maybe i'm just jumping ahead of myself here) is that the stock unit has some little tabs on the side and a black pointy plastic thing that holds it in place....There is no metal side walls to screw anything into...Kinda like mounting a hdd or something...So is there a kit for mounting the new head unit too?

P.S. How you liking the bridgeport?

When I mounted mine I just hooked the cage in with little clips and the deck has stayed in place.

So you used the existing clips from the stock radio, mounted them to the new one and slipped it in?

No, There is a cage that comes with the new radio. You put that in and there are clips that you have to fold around the dash. Once you do that you slip the radio in.

How much is the Circuit City one?

I paid 50 for my crutchfield one and I still had to do a splice for that little blue wire. Stupid Crutchfield. :'(

Yeah, I had the same experience with a harness but I don't think Crutchfield is the blame because they just sell the item. Hopefully, depending on the headunit, that the blue wire is the only one you have to splce into.
