Infotainment System
I have been working on an Infotainment system for my FD3S for sometime, I'm finally getting the time and plan on posting the progress as I move forward. This is going to be a Windows 7 based system running an i5 quad core processor. The software will be developed by myself and will consist of a number of applets. As I get an example of each application I will post it and hopefully get feedback from you guys. I do plan on making this system available to anyone else who would want one. There will be a list of hardware and software requirements by the time my installation is done. The first application will be a Digital Clock, I hate not knowing what time it is. Please feel free to comment on what is shown and if anyone has any real interest please PM me and I will ensure you have the latest information.

Hi, thanks for the input, that is planned and I have an applet already started just not ready to show yet. Once I have the display I like, I will post it and get everyone's feedback. I will have a video of the system once it is installed. Again thanks for the input and I can't wait to get more of this going.

Stop Watch Lap Timer
This is the current stop watch that I have implemented. The main functionality I see is to use it for a lap timer. What I would like to get is some feedback on how it should function. Currently when you press the Lap button it will save the current time as the lap time then it will show the delta from the previous lap. Should pressing the Lap button record the current lap time and restart the timer from 0 or work as it currently does by just continuing to count up? Any suggestions will be very helpful.

Looks good .if you use GPS you could use a KML with a defined start / finish line . So you would automatically get the lap times . This is basically how the app track addict does it

KML stands for "Keyhole Markup Language "
This is a xml based file used for instance in google maps and can easily be created with google maps or manually in excel . https://www.earthpoint.us/ExcelToKml.aspx . A KML basically allowes you to plot your driving and play it back in Google maps in real time .

You could also do a easier version . Just let people put in a reference latitude longitude for the start finish . You could then reference against the GPS data , so every time you cross the reference latitude and longitude a new lap automatically begins .

GPS lap
Thanks for the reply I will look at both implementations and see what results I get I will also look into other lap recording devices and see how they manage this Thanks

Intofatinment
The system that I'm running is a PC with multi core i5 processor with a 7" touch screen monitor mounted in the location where the radio and storage bin are. The system is currently installed and I have been running the software for a while, collecting logging data on each run I make.

Looking good. Probably a better idea is porting it to a Windows Phone app so that can be used in phones as well.. (for example I'd be able to give it a test..
Also have you had the chance to change the lap timing feature so that you don't have to push the touchscreen to stop it but through some sort of gps tracking, so it becomes totally automated

Hey Mr. Revit, I tracked down your thread as another member was looking for a more attractive way to display his Power FC info and I recommended he reach out to you.
We met at the Mazda dealership on Semoran for that Mazda event a couple years ago. Have you made any progress on the project? How’s the car doing?

I'm just coming to this thread at Brilliant7-LFC's prompt, and i love this. I've also followed the Raspexi Viewer thread(s) and Facebook page, but honestly, I'm a complete noob with electronics and cannot follow for the life of me how I would set something like this up. I'd need a virtually plug and play set up.... but if it existed, I'd be all over it.

Yeah, I don’t even have a PFC which is what this is designed for if I remember correct. I’ve seen it in person and it looks so good. He utilized a carputer which as the name implies, is a computer in your car. It’s simply a program that’s installed on an operating system, just like Internet Explorer would be on your Windows 10 computer.
You would need to buy the hardware which would consist of the computer itself and a touchscreen. Outside of that, I don’t believe there’s any necessary hardware, but that’s speculative on my part, admittedly.

Just seeing this myself, from following ptrhahn's build thread. This project is awesome. I've been mapping out a project to separate the PFC screen from it's keys so they could be custom mounted separately; as I kind of hate the commander. But this project is above and beyond those ambitions. Hope to see some new developments here.

Thanks for the suggestion, porting to the phone is a little more involved, you would still need some hardware to go from USB to bluetooth so you could connect the phone to the ECU, Arduino, Rasberry pi etc. It certainly is doable but not something I had thought about. I haven't implemented the autostart/stop lap timing yet. I'm working some other features at the moment. But when I work on 0-60, 1/4 times I will then add the lap start/stop.

I have been working on Bluetooth connectivity so any device can connect to it. This way I could stream the data to a phone app etc. That part is not complete but I have been working a test version.
Thanks

I was so impressed with your early version when I saw your car in person a couple years back, I’m really intrigued to see the progress.

The digital dashboard shows the following parameters:
AIT
Coolant Temp
Fuel Temp
MPH
RPM
Boost PSI
Knock
Volts
Throttle position
The AIT, Coolant and Fuel Temp can be switched between F/C by using the left button if not on a touch screen or touching the control. The MPH can be switched the same way between MPH/KMH. I have a lot of things planned
but have not had many requests from anyone, so I will be happy to include features that others seem are needed. Please let me know what you think of the system, the only way to give you guys what you want is to provide me
with feedback. For the ones that have already I thank you.
regards
