I Searched - Pic Request of Montego Blue with Scoot Hood

I never thought I would do a "pic request," but I did search and didn't find what I was looking for.

I'm planning on buying a Scoot hood. I have only seen one Montego Blue car with the Scoot hood. Does anyone have any other pictures of the Scoot hood on a Montego Blue car? I'm definitely going to paint it, so that would be helpful too if the picture shows the hood painted.

Thanks

Not tryin to kill your idea, but I think the scoot hood wouldnt flow with your car, it looks beautiful as is.

Thanks for the compliments guys. I know the Scoot seems "a bit much," but my car would love to run cooler.

I like the Scoot because I can use that front inlet for an intake to get nice cool air. The other hoods only vent the hot air.

I'm not totally set on the Scoot. That's why I need some pics!

Thanks

Superman - That was the only one that I could find and unfortunately it's not painted. He also has a large gap between the hood and the bumper??? Any others?

Thanks

That's a nifty idea, but I think I think I prefer something more symmetrical. I hadn't seen that one before, thanks.

Doesnt the underside of the scoot hood look somewhat strange? I Have seen pics of them and I dont think that the front scoop is really very useful. Doesnt it just run air through a passage to the rear of the hood? Im not really sure how to explain but those who have seen it know what I am refering to. Someone please enlighten me if I am wrong. Thanks

The front scoop is designed to flow fresh air to the brake booster and abs unit and turbos below. If you get creative, you can do wonderful things with a scoot hood.

Yeah, it does route the air to the back; however, I have seen several who have cut out a hole and made a quasi-airbox. That's what I plan on doing.

I was talking to someone about the Carbon Fiber hood. They said that you can paint Carbon Fiber the same color as your car and still allow the weave to show through. Has anyone done this? I searched for a while on Google and could find nothing.

That's not making any sense. I think the person meant that you can paint the hood and leave some areas of the unpainted cf exposed. Atleast, that's what I'm thinking.

well first of all the hood is carbon fiber ..And the reason for the gap is because i had that bumper from Chuck originally i was like the second person on the llist so it is old and it sags..Plus i just put the hood on and didnt even have to adjust it..almost perfect...

This is what I'm talking about. I think this would look sick with Montego Blue, but I'm not sure if it will work. My Bro's g/f's Dad owns a auto paint company. I'll ask him about it tomorrow.

I think it's a pearl coat the same color as the car; that way the carbon fiber shows through (at least that's what i've been told). They also make colored carbon fiber.

thats not colored carbon fiber on that silvia, i remember reading that article. they sanded off the clear coat and shot it with the same red that the car was painted with then put clear coat back on it.... but now they have carbon/kevlar hoods, its the kevlar that gets dyed.

I don't know i would guess that's how they got the carbon fiber to get colored like that because i don't think a base coat would show the carbon fiber weave like that. Maybe you could add a pearl coat similar to the color of your car and then spray the carbon fiber hood? I dunno . . . i'm no expert.

apex sideway is correct about using a similar pearl color. The guy who painted that 240 (Sal) showed me in person.

There are a few things you might want to know or research before choosing the scoot hood. Not that I'm trying to talk you out of it because I love that hood and I have one on my car. I did run across some problems when getting the hood installed. The first problem was my front mount intercooler piping fitting around the center spout of the hood. I had to get the piping custom redone to fit around it. Also my M2 carbon fiber box did not fit. The hood was hitting the box when trying to shut it , so I had to chop about a inch out of the bottom of the box and then get custom piping made to fit the box since the old piping no long fit. Another problem was I had to remove my front strut tower bar do to the hood hitting causing it not to shut. I thought about taking the center spout out but decided I'd rather not have a strut tower bar. Another problem was the hood was too short in all directions, meaning that there were now gaps between the bumper and also the fenders. I had no more room to ajust my fenders out so I had the shop relay fiberglass and extend the hood out. Also the shop had to fab some brackets do to the stock ones not being long enough. The hood was also slightly warped on the front left side so we decided to use the screw typ fittings on the front left side to prop it up and half a inch and then had to use hood pins to set the left back side down. That about covers my problems that I had to deal with but I did not buy the authentic scoot hood which a outrages price so I bought a knock-off for about $900 shipped. I don't know if the real scoot hood would fit better or not. But the end result is awesome. Good luck!
