How too: Attach mesh to bumper mouth/ducts??

I have read and searched on where some people have bought there front mesh for their bumpers. But what i need to know is how did you attach it?? Are there special clips or did you use some kind of adhesive?

when i had cwest side skirts on my car i used hot glue. i just bent the edges of the mesh so that it sat flush on the inside of the openings. then put alot of glue all over mesh and edges. it worked good and never came off for the two years i had them on my car.

What I did was unbend a paper clip and make it straight. Than use resin or something very adhesive to the back of the bumper. Than slide the mesh through the pins and tie the pins tightly. I did about 6 on the oil duct side and have had no problems as of yet.

well i went to go buy the mesh today but i couldnt find any. all they had was steel chicken wire and thats definatly not want im looking for......

Paper clips, hmm so in other words any thin stell or even wire adhered to the bumper and then tied through the mesh would work. Good idea, then it can be also removed if need be by undoing it.

Actually i was just thinking that reusable zip ties would be good too......

look for bumper clips at pep boys that will fit through the holes, then pre drill holes in the bumper for the clips.

Ouch, no drilling please. Plus if you get down and look into the mouth/ducts you will see the holes that have been drilled all around.

Why not just make small fiberglass tabs to secure the mesh to the bumper? That's what I've always done...

grab the mesh off of ebay, thats what I did it was pretty good quality too. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/UNIVE...QQcmdZViewItem
Thats what i bought, style a and it was really good, I had a friend buy some of the cheaper stuff and it wasnt as thick or good looking. Now that I thinking about it, copper wire probally would of worked really well to hold down the mesh.

I used two-part epoxy/plastic weld by DevCon. That mesh is not going ANYWHERE...which is a good and bad thing. I formed the mesh to be flat on the backside (unpainted side) of the ducts and bent then transitioned flat across the opening of the duct (if that makes any sense), then I dabbed a bit of the epoxy whereever the mesh came in contact with the bumper on the backside.

Hot glue actually sounds a lot easier to apply. Instead of dabbing around with a popsicle stick, just keep running along with the gun. Or, I guess I could've used my dad's 3M Thermoset adhesive gun...that thing is hardcore. Oh well...grill/mesh is permanent now. If I ever want to do something behind the bumper, like service the horns, I need to remove the bumper.

The funny thing is I make that stuff (well not me personally but in my plant) I can get it all day long in aluminum or stainless. It can come raised like that or i can get it flattened also.

That is what i was going to use at first but i thought if i could find plastic, it might be a bit easyer to work with, but it looks like i will be going with the aluminum.

Pure how does it look (do you have a pic) in the 1/2" raised? Im debating on that or going with the flat. Do you think the 1/2" diamonds are to big? I can also go with the 1/4" diamonds but not sure if they will be too small.

Hey Shawn try some speaker clips. That's my freind did on his Cavalier and it works great. No holes or glue, cause I know your style. Any local stereo shop will probaby give them to you for free. That's what happened for us. You better colour match your mesh with your rims! HAHA

And match my rims eh.....hmm i never thought of that. I was just going to go with a semi-gloss black. You dont think Gunmetal/titanium colour will look out of place?

yeah the clips are folded in half and have a screw hole in the middle of them. There used to attach speakers to doorskins and deck lids. Just take your mesh and flatten it to match your fibreglass (bend the ends to 90 deggrees get it) place mesh and fibreglass between the clip. If that dosen't make sense call me.
