How to take care of your paint/specific color.

OK..just got done cleaning my car and was asked what year my car was..I told him a 90 model year and hismans jaw dropped..how do you keep it so clean?....well over the years I have tried many things...a lot of waxes and polishes etc. So I decided to start a thread to help all of those that are not sure yet as what to use to get that 7 looking new.It is summer after all! Just post your color and what you use to keep it looking new.

I have a white Turboo II Convertible and the best Wax/Polish I have used to get the blemishes out is Armor All Detailers Advantage Car Wax and Mequiars Gold Class Clear Coat LIQUID Carwax...both of these help me get the bumber clean after driving in the rain..I have no cats(like most of us) and the rear bumber gets real yellow and both of these will get it looking new

While drying I find Eagle one"Wax as you dry" good and then after that I use Mequiars "Quik Detailer" to give it a real smooth feel
Just to wash the car I use regual dish detergant to help get off old wax and grease. For tires I use Formula 2001

1. Wash Regular detergent
2. dry with Eagle one "Wax as you dry"
3. Detail with Mequiars Quik Detailer
4. If needed Wax car with Mequiars or Armor All Detailers Advantage

I find that these are the best for a white car....what do you use with what color?

Spray on waxs will always result in a less than perfect wax job.

For the best looking and protected paint, you need to follow standard detailers methods:

1. wash car with good car wash soap and water, and dry car
2. Polish (I recommend 3M swirl remover) or clay bars followed by a good polish.
3. Wax with a good carnuba wax without any cleaners (maquires is a good choice).
4 wash again with just cool water.

See cleaner/wax/polish combo waxes are at best average and most nothing more than snake oil.

So to get your car the shinest, as well as longest lasting paint, you need to clean and oil the old paint with a good polish, and then a good carnuba wax to seal in the oils that polishing puts in, and to protect the paint.

Off your last post but, not all dish detergents are good at removing wax. Its a formulation thing. If youy absolutely must use a dish detergent cuz you want to remove old wax, use Dawn.

when i go all out and wax it, i wash it first with just regular armor all car wash soap and dry it. i then use meguiars gold glass wax. for tires i use some cheap tire foam stuff, wheels i use turtle wax 2001 wheel cleaner. armor all wipes own for the interior, i use the glass wipes too. i also used mothers plastic polish on my ftps today, they look a lot better.
