i do windshields at the shop all the time - first of all your gonna need to get off the wipers, vent panel, and the weather stripping and moulding that run along the sides of the glass. simple tools required. next either a pneumatic air knife and a compressor, a 90 degree hand blade with a hernia or some piano wire and a buddy will get the old glass out.
Secondly - adhesive. for the best adhesion clean all the edges of the glass and pinch weld with a silicon/wax remover. then you will want to you use primers for both the windshield edges and the pinch weld. although you can get away with out it, as a professional i must recommend it. For primer i recommed any essex product, as well for the urethane adhesive. - an essex 400 series urethane is OEM grade. Make sure that the bead of urethane applied is tall enough to make contact with the glass all the way around, but on the same token don't go nuts and have it oozing out as you push it down.

ok...i know how to get it out..so no problem there...so..i need to use a cleaner to clean it, and then a primer? whats that and where do i get it...the urethane i already have...its 3m..but it says it exceeds OEM. so..i clean it, prime it, run a bead of urethane, put the glass on (carefully) and hold it in place for 5 mins or so..the let it set for an hour?
is all that correct and did i miss anything?
thanks
pat
