How much modification to make Infinity Kappa's fit in doors?

I wanted to run infinity kappa 6.5s in the doors, but I was wondering how much modification would be needed to make them fit.

FD? Bose or Non-Bose?

Check sound domain... they have a nifty tool that even has the above bose options? If you have a base it shouldn't be a problem. The ones I was looking at putting in my doors where 6.5 Kappas that were under 2 1/4 inches deep. The three ways I think were a bit shallower. But in any case, check www.sounddomain.com for the specs. I think they even have a good deal on the kappas right now.

Really, I thought you only needed a spacer if you replacing the Bose speakers.

If you have the bose mounts you might as well start from scratch; 6in drivers extend beyond the mounting surface of the bose enclosures. Building the mounts is a pita because the section of the door panel that they have to rest against has the topography of a mountain range.

Yes, I just finished my ENORMOUS project. I removed the BOSE and built enclosure for my doors. I put in Kappa Perfect 5.25s. I would think that 6.5s would be very tight.

How are the 5.25s compared to the 6.5s. I am afraid that I won't have any bass as I will only have these plus 5x7 in the back with no subs,

It's hard to say yet. Supposedly, they need to break in for the mid-bass performance. I also have an Infinity Basslink X, so my bass is covered. Right now (only really driving the car 3 days) the midbass isn't very loud, but I've read in several places that it really opens up after a week or two.

I just installed my 5.25 Fronts and 5x7s in the rears. They're Alpine SPS series and to my disappointment they are not good bass speakers. Low and mid range are incredibly good but just not enough knock. I mean you can turn up the bass but it just won't sound good, plus you don't wanna blow them out.

So now I'm looking at an 8" sub and maybe making a custom box with an amp and throwing all that **** in the back and that should take care of the bass end.

5.25" in the fronts needed a bit of modifying to the door and 5x7s in the rear I could only get on 2 out of the 4 screws into the brackets but it holds just fine.

Have fun.

Wow! I live in Tampa (actually Pinellas County), that's weird. Where do you work? I used a lot of dynamat and a dremel to get the plywooed enclosures just right....Weird....
