How much for the black RZ seats?

Ok i have searched and every time i do i get no results for "rz seats" or just "rz" and i know there have to be some threads about it. so can someone tell me how much these go for. FDnewbie sells them for like 3k or something close to that. is there no way to get them any cheaper. Do any of you guys have them and were they around 3k. also how do you like them? were they worth it? thanks for any input.

I believe they are close to $4000 EACH from Mazda. I can get them for 1600 EACH, in good condition, sometimes mint. There is a LONG waiting list ahead of you though. By FAR the best seats available for the FD. They are EXTREMELY comfortable, slide front to back and tilt upwards as well. You also get rails which guarantee OEM fitment and a piece of mind. The reason these seats are so expensive is because of shipping, each seat is about $600 to ship via fedex because they are outside of EMS requirements.

I understand we are a bit on the expensive side, BUT when you deal with us, you know exactly what you are getting and WHEN you are getting it. We provide you with all the tracking numbers from Japan to here to you, and do NOT require payment until the item is readily available. Anyone who knows me, knows I put ONLY the best items in my car, and these rz or spirit-r seats, havent decided yet, are going in my car eventually.

Gordon,

The RZ seats are black and the Sprit-r seats are red. The spirit-r seats were made in an extremely limited amount and are more money then the rz seats. Absolutely ZERO difference in the structure or anything else of the seat, just differenct colors.

Again the issue is shipping, your starting at $600 per seat just to get the seat state-side. You are probably looking at around $1200 for a seat with torn-up covers. You are better off buying ones in good condition, then selling the covers. The covers from Rhdjapan I believe are over $1500 per side. BOTH seats tilt/recline, it is the lever in the middle of the seat between the rails. I know this for a fact, as I just shipped out a passenger rz seat today. Unfortunately I have never seen just the reclining lever for sale, and I dont think it is available from Mazda.

Right now I have one driver seat, two pairs, and one passenger seat in that order awaiting RZ seats. Now if you did want one with terrible covers that would put you in the front of the line, but not sure if it is worth the $400 in savings. Wish I could find a way to ship these cheaper but right now a shipping container is not an option. The good thing is, fedex only takes about 3 days to ship them over, so one you pay in full you have the seats to your door in about 3 weeks - assuming they pass inspection at my warehouse.

Hey Gordon,
Hmmmmm I happen to have a set of RZs in less than perfect condition.
The driver's side is in good condition but the passenger side is less than stellar. If your interested let me know maybe we can work something out. When I spoke to you on the phone I thought we talked about my seats not being spirit Rs no?

As far as variations in the seats, didn't some come with extra holes for harnesses and stuff? How you doing finding goodies for me Bryan? I need more toys.

Andy,

Always on the look out for you. I am currently importing a 2002 cluster and a 99 cluster so I can work on getting these clusters to work. I think I just had a bad board last time, as I have talked to several members who have working 2002 clusters in their USDM cars. Once I can verify that we can start working on finding you a spirit-r cluster. Will be in touch soon.

I must say that dealing with Brian thus far has been nothing but Professional. He communicates with you the entire time and the material goes through two inspections, one in japan and the other in jacksonville. He knows the product and has the best intrest of the buyer in mind........he is not out to make a quick dollar.

Buying an items such as this is not cheap and you can really loose your *** if you are not dealing with the right person/company. I would not hessitate to purchase from Brian.

What he said. These seats are awesome and worth the money IMO. They also weigh about 10lbs each. The rail is a bit more heavy than the stock rails due to the tilt function. Also, if your a big person, these are your best option for racing seats, as I believe all other large racing seats don't fit in FDs or atleast need modifiying to fit. There's a little effort getting in and out but I've gotten used to it and have developed a fast way to get in and out w/o putting too much wear on the bolsters...though I do have the optional leather bolster protectors which help.

Cool man. I don't think those will fit my RZs.

I believe their are bolsters made specifically for RZs and spirits. goodfellas has a set. I'll ask him.

I am unaware of there being different versions. I do know, that the bolsters/ sides of the seats were available in different options.

The ones I have pictured above are available in red or black for $175 each, brand new. This includes international shipping, however you will have to pay ~$10 for domestic shipping.

There was someone here on the forum that had them for sale. Rich(Goodfella) actually brought them to my attention as I believe he got his from the guy as well. You could try him as I don't remember, nor did I save any info.

For the record, there is no difference between Spirit R and RZ Recaro's.

The early RZ's (pre-2000) had black Recaro's, the last model RZ's (Pearl White) had red Recaro's like the Spirit R.

I have a pair of these seats and they're probably the most comfortable seats i have every had, well for racing type seats. They're a little tought getting in and out of but once your in your not moving!!! I'm always on the road for long drives and they never give me pain.

The big thing is that the height is perfect. Your not sitting on a high chair or so low you can't see over the dash. Nothing but perfect, definately worth the money for direct factory fit.

Might be more pictures of the red recaros on here, but they are definitely more rare here in the states too. I have imported 6 pairs now, all black. The red rz's are a PITA to find. Dont forget you can buy individual seats too. Look at it this way, Bride carbon seats are $1800 + rails, so $2000 EACH. IMO, the reputation and safety of Recaro seats, OEM fitment, tilt function, and RESALE value all make the RZ seats a great choice.

How is that cheaper? You need to understand international shipping costs before anything.
Auction 1:
200,000Y= $2000 + $150 for domestic Japan shipping. Then $650 to ship each seat here to the sates, plus custom fees. Seats must go through Fedex as you can not send them EMS. Your only alternative is to send them in a container, which takes 3 months and costs upwards of $3000 - not a bad idea if you plan on bringing over multiple seats. That puts you at ~$3500 for the pair, plus probably a little more. Assuming the company you go through does not charge you a fee, which I find highly unlikely.
Auction 2:
60,000Y = $600 +$75 for domestic shipping and $650 to ship internationally. That is about $1400 for that seat which IMO is in sub-par condition considering the kevlar on the back is all faded.

Conclusion.
1. The auction may seem cheap now, but you have to consider in all the factors to get the seat state-side.
2. The bidding of auctions often happens in the last 5 minutes, so the pricing could continue to go up.
3. If you use a foreign company you can run into two problems.
a. They can take your money and there is nothing you can do about it.
b. They send the money to the seller on Yahoo Japan auctions and then the seller never sends the seat. You are once again out the money.

By going through me, you might pay another $200 (assuming the other company charges no fees), but you get several benefits.
1. No hassle or time.
2. Leaving it to someone with experience and knows what he is doing
3. NO LIABILITY. If the seller never sends the seat you get refunded and I am out the cost of the seat.

IMO, the extra $150 to $200 is well worth the re-assurance of getting what you pay for. Thus you can see my pricing is fair and competitively priced.

I didn't pay $150 to ship the seats inside JP. In fact shipping was about $450.
So total cost (buying those) would have been about $2600 which is a lot cheaper (for those red chairs) any place i've seen.

$450 to ship a pair of seats with rails from Japan to state-side? Through who?
