How to change bose front speaker?

I post this in a another thread:

<<Maybe you can help me redhat, I bought some 5.25 'supposedly' stock replacement speakers Infinity reference series, and to my dismay they do not fit the stock front bose speaker panels.

What's the way to go around that? and can I take off the bose amplifier completely since I will be routing the wire directly from the headunit through the door to the speakers.

If there is an easier way to install new speakers using the existing bose stereo wires, then let me know!

Also what is the easiest way to route power wires from the battery into the interior? I only see the fenderwell route, and that's about it. >>

Any help would be appreciated.

Tx.

You will need tp dremel out the stock plastic box that the speaker mounts into.
Also you will want to run your own speaker cables thru the door into the cabin.
Finally the firewall is the only way I know how to do it. It's not hard though.

i had that same problem with my earthquake components but I never drilled. I made my own adapters to fit the hole. It easy. Measure the size and depth of and just use wood to raise it up a bit. You can remove the bose amp completely. I did and it works great.

Thanks

Thanks guys, time to go buy a dremmel. I will go with the drimmel route and somehow tap the screws to hold the speakers.

I'm also interested in this. Does anyone have pics of the mods they made to the bose box? Are there any decent speakers that will fit right into the existing holes?

Wade, I think 5.25" is 'supposedly' the stock replacement size. But the magnets and speaker back construction is bigger in the aftermarket rear speakers compare to stock, they will not fit the existing bose speaker holes. Hence the above helpful individuals pointed out either we have to drimmel the existing holes to fit or build your own custom plates.

Certainly if anyone know of any speaker that's direct replacement, please share.
