Help! Smoke from Bose System!!!
This morning i was listening to some music is my FD (w/ Bose) and after like 30 sec. it sounded like the front left door speaker had blown. It would make weird noises when the radio or CD was on...even if the volume was all the way down. It would only stop when i turned the head unit off. On the way back from work I decided to put up with the distortion so i could listento some music. When i got into my driveway it only sounded like a blown speaker (no more weird noises when volume was all the way down.) This is when the smoke appeared. It came from behingd the door panel by the speaker. I took the speaker off and the smoke seems to be coming from behind the speaker. Someone mentioned it may be the bose amp for that speaker that is blown and not the speaker? Has anyone had this problem before?IF so how can i fix it? THanks for all the help!

I had the same problem w/ the center channel in my 1st 3g. Since it was the center, I didn't bother fixin it. I would assume it is the speaker as these things only run 1/2 ohm resistance they see lots of current. As far as fixin it goes..... I would try to pick up a used speaker out of a touring from someone... You can not just put any speaker in it's place as it runs at a different ohm load then ne hting you will find in stores.. Of course you can always rip out the whole pos stereo and start from scratch?
