Heads up to those of you buying body kits

i purchased a veilside fortune kit online, nearly half a year later after weeks of trying to track people down with unanswered phone calls, voice mails and emails i finally was able to reach veilside and they eventually shipped my veilside fortune kit i recieved it nearly 3 months after its promised delivery date dinged up with no instructuons of how to assemble most of the kit other than some poor quality black nad white pictures that looked like a 3 year old came up with. after i inspected the peices i was told that the headlights projectors would have to be mounted using very close tolerance fabrication. i called asking for instructions and was told they do not exist nor do they have any clue as to how to assemble them. I was also told that i have some sort of new headlight design and that im probably they only one who has them. I'm not so upset with this in the fact that i have to do work( trust me i'am accustomed to that) its the fact that i have a dinged up body kit with no instructions no fasteners no tech support and a lot of fabrication ahead. when i buy a $10,000 body kit i at least expect some instructions. i just thought you guys should know this incase any of you decide to buy this kit expect to have to pull teeth with these people to even get your product and then expect nothing but trouble installing it with nearly no support. i will never purcahse any veilside product again.

$10,000 on a body kit, and its for a car that already looks better than most cars on the road today!

BUT! if you had to do it, the fortune kit is pretty frickin cool! you WILL turn heads

Veilside, although mostly ugly, usually contructs their peices pretty well. I'm surprised at your experience. Who did you deal with directly?

Welcome to ordering parts, "Straight from JaPon!" I hear about alot of folks with problems, even reputable sellers on this forum have a hard time shipping out parts. I have a crappy automatic car so I don't need JDM parts for da rizzzide hehe.

Whose body kits come with instructions?
Most of these body kits are "professional installation only".

pretty much, you should be able to look at it and figure out what goes where, i guess thats just me, having worked on puzzles and models my whole life.
ya, like reted said, "pro install only"
a 11,000$ kit becomes 20,000$ after its all said and done!

peace

This is one of my major problems with the whole "import performance" scene/industry. You get shitty service, often subpar products, little or no instructions, and they charge out the *** for this.

I'm no domestic fan, but at least if you order a cam for a mustang, it is not going to be extremely expensive, you're going to have it in hand within a few days max, it will likely come with some instructions, and even if it doesnt then you can pick up the phone and communicate with someone about it and get the answers you need within minutes. And the quality is going to be 100%, not "ah, just grind on it a little bit, it will fit".

+ bazillion

You're taking a risk with items produced (and normally sold) in a foreign country.
Unless there's an official distributor set up here (I thought Veilside gave up a few years ago?), you're taking a crap shot on getting any kinds of help after the purchase.
Lots of these shops will advertise that they sell Japan products, but what happens when you run into problems after the sale?

question about the kits. I have an SE and I really like the look of a datsun kit with the convex and concave looks. I don't like the M1 too much, Sucks that the better kits are available for everything else. I don't know how to properly secure carbon fiber items that I like a lot such as a splitter and canards that will probably change my mind and make a sick kit. I just want a kit that juts out a little and gives the front more of a dip instead of a straight down face. the og bumper is fine and looks good but I want a kit to play with.

Is that even a question? http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Transwiki:Threadjacking

To the OP, hope you get all the bad things ironed out, it sucks dealing with stuff like this, especially where miscommunication is a profession.

Rotorooter, parts of the fiberglass where damaged in some way? Where the shipping boxes banged up? Also, it can't be that hard to figure out how to mount the body kit but you said it comes with no hardware at all? So basically you have to fabricate or purchase all hardware yourself?

Do the headlights look like the headlights in all of the Fortune pictures floating around? I wonder if they changed headlight manufacturer or the like. There is a guy over at teh V8 RX-7 Forum that also just received the kit. I will post in his thread and see if your experiences are alike.

Just a couple things

Original Poster - I left a message for you last week. I don't know if you called back yet.

If products are damaged in shipping, they should not be accepted. This is true for ALL items regardless of brand/item/anything.

instructions - we just got instructions for this, but the body shop should be able to figure it out. all the pieces join together...

hardware - we send all hardware with the kits. HOWEVER, at the time yours went out, we had to order new bolts (etc.) and they came in after we shipped the kit. We sent the hardware seperate.

We DID find a small error with the turn signals and fixed it. Proper signals will be sent. The Headlights themselves have no problems. I just tried out a set here.

in the sake of making a fair argument i have this to say. I spoke with a represenative from veilside today who was rather upset with me because of what i have written on this forum. he has gotten the fasteners for the kit to me and he is sending the new turn signals since the old ones where the wrong size. either way the veilside rep obviously is pretty irritate with me but he conducted himself proffesionally and dealt with the problem. it should be resolved now i believe.
