headlights killing the sound system.

i put a stereo in my rx7 that i when i bought had no stereo. It is just a standard 4 speaker sound system, 2 4" pioneers in the front and 2 5 1/4" alpines in the back, with an alpine head unit. It sounds pretty good when its working, however, when I turn it up too loud or it hits certain notes, it shuts off. Also when i turn on my head lights, it shuts off. Any experience with this or tips on a possible fix?

i think the stock alternator is not big enough because i have the same issue, anytime it drops below 1000 rpms(alternator does not produce 13.5v until it is above 1000rpms) it will cut off if i have my radio up all the way. im running the 2 4" in the front, 2 6.5" in the rear as well as a 300 watt alpine amp and 12" sub on a alpine deck. my lights will dim dim out a little bit with the sub when it's cranked up also. i regrounded the engine to body and a couple other important grounds and it helped, but not enough. let me know if you find an easy way to fix this problem because i hate how my lights dim a little bit. but i am also running fog lights, and an electric fan, larger fuel pump.

Sounds like you have a weak ground. Try grounding the radio directly to the chasis.

I have a similar problem: When I step on the brakes, the radio cuts off.

I'll check the grounds. Thanks!
