head unit

i saw some head unit at a walmart close to my house a while ago. it had an all black faceplate. its was just a blank black faceplate with a verticle button on each side, then when the power was turned on the stuff would show through and it would flip down to put the cd in.
does anyone know what im talking about?

wow, thanx for looking. that does look like what i described, but sorry thats not it.

it is all black just like the one u have the link too, but it has only the two verticle buttons on either side and you cant see anything but a black faceplate when its turned off, but when turned on everything shows through. it also flips down to put CDs in.
thanx for the link, they do have a lot of them, but i dont see it on there.
thanx

If you have $10K to spend on an audio system for your FD (which I doubt you have, BTW), why are you shopping for head units at Wal-Mart?

since you were at wal-mart it's probably the Jensen CDH-1000 or Durabrand or some crap like that. Don't think wal-mart sells the sony one. If you want a CD player like that I'd probably go with the Panasonic CQ-HR1003U Ghost series you'd get better sound at least. Of course the Sony probably sounds better haven't seen it but it's also quite a bit more. I'd still probably go with Alpine though, even the cheap alpine is better then just about anything they sell at wal-mart.

i like the panasonic, ive heard it in an 80's vette, but i was like 10 at the time
sony is exensive compared to some others, but i dont remember how much of a difference it actually has.
which would be the best head unit for an FD, like the Jensen CDH-1000, with the best sound quality?

Sorry, but over the past 5-ish years, all sony's been interested in (in ICE anyway) is to shift as many weird-looking HU's to boy-racers as possible.

Basically, they look nice, but sound poo, and tend to literally fall apart!

There aren't many of them around really. I'd have to say panasonic by elimination. Other then jensen and sony I don't know any others that make them. I've always liked Panasonics never had one but they seem to sound pretty good in the cars that I've ridden in.
