I used to live in an area with lots of eucalyptus trees, higly allergic to the pollen from the seeds. My FD was garage kept but apparently some sort of residue is in there because I'm braking out again after driving it 4 days in a row to work. I have not lived in that area for about 5 months now.
I have used fabreeze on the carpets before. Any other suggestions becuase that alone didnt seem to work, sigh.

i think its in the vents, that will hopefully disepate over time. i just avoid using them when i can, or for short periods of time.
steam cleaning the carpets sounds like a good idea.

yeah. many of my customers had problem with smelly vents or allgeries coming fromt he vents and interior. sometimes its even mold build up. i spray some lysol air neutralizers (anti-bacterial) in the vent (the outside vent sucking in air for the inside) and turnt he fan on. then spray the inside and close the doors.
wow. that sucks. i'd get the interior fully detailed. they generally shampoo the rugs and seats and clean up the interior plastics. if done by a quality shop, it can be a bit expensive but you'll have a sweet looking interior
I'd also grab a vacuum cleaner or two and open the 2 doors, stick the vac cleaner nozzles into the vents that lead to the doors and let it run for a while. that should help get anything in the vents out. if you cover the various vents with a towel or some tape, it should help create an air tight seal to facilitate the suction.
some vacuums can blow as well as suck so you can probably reverse the flow afterwards and blow anything out as well. oh, do that b4 the detailing.

^ yeah. you can use any APC or MPC (all/multi purpose cleaner) diluted into 1/3 (1 part A/M PC and 3 parts water). i like to use the APC form costco thats in a green bottle. but meguiars have some too. get the ones where you have to dilute it. spray some on the rugs, seats, scrub with a towel and soak up with another towel. then vacuum them. you can also use Woolite Original but it has to be dilute to 1 part Woolite and 5 part water. thats the best way to clean leather seats and plastics (very very gentle but it cleans). then after that see if your still allergic to the interior. and try lysol anti bacterial air fresheners.
