Those of you with the Shine Low Profile Spoiler, what brand/type of tape are you using to secure it?

Home depot, sells the 3M double sided tape with red backing. It's labeled outdoor tape or something. I remember seeing a very thin tape as well, works wonders.

After today im not sure that i trust just the tape for something like this. My brothers vortex generator on his evo flew off on the highway and it was held down by 3m tape...

I just wanted to see what's working for everyone. I knew I needed multiple layers on the sides to pull them down but wanted to make sure first...

Man, that 3M aint no joke. I barely laid it down crooked and had to pull it up. I could feel the suspension lift!

Got impatient and painted it myself today.

It also creates much more drag/downforce than a Shine lip wing too. I wouldn't use the tape for my diffuser or even a GT wing. Why would you even begin to use it for something like that?

With the red 3M tape... If the surfaced is prepped properly... It won't go anywhere

The fins in the centre of a diffuser e.g. the re-a pro diffuser are often referred to as "vortex generators". I assume he means these, rather than the roof mounted monstrosities .

I have an evo 9 mr right now (about to get in to my friends old FD) and the roof mounted vortex generators, ugly as they may be, are proven to help keep airflow hugging the rear windshield therefore making the air passing around the wing denser. This leads to a few lbs more downforce/ negative lift.

Yes, like the ones on my RE-A diffuser. That's exactly what I was referring to. Not the roof ridiculousness.

Like FallonRacing said, if it's prepped right it won't go anywhere. Sounds like the guy's brother half assed it in the install then.

^ Its okay that you dont know what ur talking about... I'll forgive u

I just worry that if that spoiler gets a little bit of air running under it, then it will just fly off. We all know that this car will see 100+ mph and at that speed it could just fly off like my brothers generator.

I'm just sayin that is an expensive piece to trust to some tape...

with the 3M tape and adhesive promoter that thing isn't going anywhere. I had to remove mine to change the rear tails and it was PIA to remove it.

Tested at 100+ repeatedly and no issues lol

Right....

Mine has seen 120+ countless times. Still rock solid.
