Gurus.Q's on speaker wires and Pre-outs.
I have this question.
I notice that the Aftermarket decks have wiring to supply each speaker, color coded for each position. The Decks also have the Pre-outs so that you can run to Amps.
Question: Can you use the wiring to go to speakers( that would just run the deck wattage...say 18X4)....AND also run Pre-out's to Amps to supply other speakers connected to those amplifiers?.
My thinking is that, essentially, you could run the 18x4 up front as a 4 channel system and again run Power amps in the rear with higher output as say, another 4 channel system.
Thanks Gents.

Yes, you can do that, but if you are semi serious about your sound system, its not a good practice (Its like running a Bridgeport engine on OEM exhaust.). First, you definitely don't want to run your better components/amps to the rear speakers. You are better off running said 4 channel amp for your front/rear speakers and a sub. With a setup like this, you will not have front/rear fader, and the amp will be getting a workout.

Hmm.
sort of gives me an idea that the wired speakers could be used as a "mute position"(like lower power only) and the amp could be powered so that you can turn it off but get the minimum power of the wired speaker system.
It was merely a thought though..
I am wiring the 5 channel in and using the Pre-outs from the deck.
the deck has 6 pre-outs but I may just not hook up subs yet.(so only use F and R )
The only thing I hate is that I have to double run wires...RCA's from the deck to the back(where the amp is) and then speaker wire back from the amp at the rear of the car to the front speakers.
