Grounding wires

Total newb question but for items like stereos and gauges, what do sort of connectors (grounding ring or whatever they're called) should I typically use to ground on an FD?

I'm looking to install:

2 gauges
Aftermarket radio

I plan on grounding everything near the shifter area. I tried searching but couldn't figure out the exact sizes / types of grounding connectors I should look to purchase.

Thanks in advance,
Alex

They're commonly called Ring Terminals and the ones I use most often are the 1/4" Blue ones for 14-16 gauge wire. Depending on the number, location and function of the gauges you wish to install, you might consider doing something like this:

What I did on my 20B FC was splice into the gauge cluster's power, ground and illumination wires, run them off to the side to a dedicated gauge expansion connector (the gray one) with those wires split to two terminals each for convenience. Then I threaded a 4-conductor cable up from the ECU for the most common signals: Map, Coolant Temperature, Wideband and Oil Pressure (Haltech AVI#1), putting those wires on the connector's middle terminals. If you're still using the stock FD ECU, a patch harness from Banzai Racing will make this much easier. End result is a nice, clean plug & play setup that is logically in the same area as the stock gauges.

From this dedicated connector, it's just a matter of threading the appropriate wiring to where your gauges will be mounted. Mine are mounted on the Window Defroster vent (made from scratch, originals were long gone), so it was easy to make it look good:

As for grounding an aftermarket stereo, the most logical spot on a FC is behind the kick panel on one of the M6x1.0 bolts found there. It's been awhile since I dealt with FD stereo wiring, but I would imagine that it has a stock ground already in place. I'd highly suggest visiting The Install Doctor - The Do-It-Yourself Car Stereo Installation Resource and referencing the FSM for the original stereo ground location.
