Gauges. Digital vs Analog display

Hey all,

Im here to ask the forum to help me decide which style gauges I should get.

Not trying to start a Defi vs Blitz vs Autometer debate, just which style display you would prefer.

I currently only have a Pettit boost gauge (remarked Autometer) mounted via the pettit mount (A pillar location) and aDawes Air/Fuel ratio meter mounted steering column.

I would like to add the following gauges via the MickyMouse center speaker gauge pod and another A pillar mount.

1. Water Temp
2. Oil Temp
3. Tranny Temp (have an auto)
4. Outside Air Temp

I have found a couole really nice looking digital gauges, but am concerned about the visibilty in sunlight.

So which gauges would you prefer looking at? Digital or Analog?

Here are the digital gauges Im looking at getting...

Digital Dakota

Nordskog

Nordskog's digital tach and speedo are freakin sweet.

Tach

Speedo

Thanks for the help

I personally prefer analogue gauges. IMO it's easier to glance at an analogue and know were the needle should be rather then having to actually read the numbers of a digital diplay. The tacho and speedo aren't so bad because they have the bar graph as well.

I use Autometers Carbon Fibre Series myself and I'm happy with them.

Max Cooper uses the digital ones but I can't remember where he purchased them from.

Ya I guess Im kinda partial to analog gauges as well, its difficult to see trends on a digital gauge.

But they do look cool....

Thanks for the input

And ya RonKMiller: I like your idea too! I think I will snag a full panel EFIS outa a US Airways B-767 when they aution them off.

Apexi has a new guage system like defi where all the guages are sent to one unit. The same goes for blitz.

Hey unixpilot they are made by SPA

Here's the home page:
http://www.woodlawnrv.com/Products/SPA/spa_home.asp
Here are some reviews/info:
http://www.spatechnique.com/instruments.html

http://www.syclone.freeserve.co.uk/spagauges.htm

http://www.turbotrix.com/parts/spagauge.shtml

http://www.performancediesel.net/SPA...pa_gauges.html

http://www.n-tech.net/index.cfm?fuseaction=project

Here's the place with the best deals on them I think:
http://www.n-tech.net/index.cfm?fuseaction=project

There is a lot of info on these and reviews about these being very good quality from being used in different types of acrs even the RX7. These are the gauges I plan on getting.

I have to say that digital display gauges are the worst. Like you said, it's hard to recognize a trend on a digital display, whereas the analog faced units have motion. You asked for opinions, that's mine.

Do you have a pic of your setup? What color do the carbon series light up?
