Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic, is it quality material?
Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic, is it quality material?
thinking about getting a aero kit from version:SELECT ...im just wonder if FRP(Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic) is worth putting on my fc.
its a knockoff of the GP Sports kit that they stopped making..

theres the original, i would expect fitment to be awkward
(most likely bought old distroted molds an tried to fix em up)
as for quality, FRP is iffy and varies on quality from company to company
(i dont have it, thats what ive heard and have come to understand)

What he said
Depending on the manufacturer, FRP (Fiberglass) can be either a nightmare or a dream - it all depends on mold used, and the method/labor of actually laying the fiberglass... how many layers, how much time/experience the plant has, care about end result, etc etc
That being said, most mass produced and/or knock-off/counterfeit kits tend to fit like crap - a mold made from an existing bumper (think copy of a copy) instead of the actual plug/mold used to produce the original kit.
Some of the smaller batched knock-off stuff though, is of really high quality and fit/finish is superb - And some of the High Dollar "original" stuff is junk.. You just need to shop around and ask people who have bought from the manufacturer in question

A good friend of mine dealt with both the version select and the gp sports kit. He said the fitment and the material were 98% identical. The only difference was that the version select kit didn't come with enough mounting holes so you had to drill some more.
Version Select is good material FRP.
They are distributed by Touge Factory , in Northbrook, IL.
I've seen these kits in person , unpainted/painted.
Moldings were very clean, and fitament was good.
THIS IS NOT EBAY ****.
