FD rear speakers (AGAIN)

It's time to replace my shredded rear speakers. After pulling the the interior apart I find there's no way I'm going to get my new 6x9's in no matter what. So I measure up my old speakers and they come out at 5x7. They're not exactly that but they're sure as hell not 6x8's as some people in here seem to have. So Is there a Mazda model that came with 6x8's? Or do all US models come with them or what?

Also if anyone has made 6x9's fit easily I'd love to hear it.

Garfinkle put 6 x9 s in last week with large magnets and did not cut up the grill covers .JL Audio brand, he made mounts out of the stock mounts and he moved the seat belt retractors over alittle ,they sound great,he will replace the fronts latter with bigger than stock speakers .He did his other FD before

Mate, i managed to get 6x9 in without too much hassles

I had to file a little of the existing brackets, the covers are a tight fit, but they do make it.

I used a set of Jaycar 6x9 for my rears

6x8 are a direct replacement. Pioneer has some Ford ones which work perfect.

Why bother with rear speakers anyways??? If you have a sub in the back and some nice components up front, it just messes with the sound stage. The rear speakers act more for fill in then anything else.

beat me to it a decent component set up front (adequately powered of course) will replace any need for rear fill speakers. Also because the B-pillar is so damn close to your head, it has that much more impact on the sound stage. But, to each his own.

No subs, no power for me. My ears ring now from the constant abuse. I just went to Pioneer's all around. Keeps the weight down with no amps and subs. 6 1/2 thin mount front (perfect fit, direct screw on) and 6x8 rear. Cheap upgrade but won't rattle the windows
