Question FD Rear Speaker Replacement

Has anyone replaced the factory rear speakers in the R1, I'm don't want to play around with the 5x7's. I think a 5.25 swap would be easy, but I want to find out if anyone has put in 6.5 or 6x9's in instead...

I replaced my non bose Fd speakers with Eclipse 6.5" point source series in the front and Eclipse 5"x7" in the back ran by Eclipse 7002. Most 5"x7" don"t sound real good but the eclipse's kick *** I'm extremly happy with them. Good luck.

Unless I'm mistaken, the fronts are 5.25" speakers normally, correct? If so, what'd you have to do to get the 6.5" to fit? I want to put either a 2-way 6.5" or a component 5.25" set in the rear. A 6x9" is my biggest goal, but I don't think it'd fit. I'll probably start a new thread once I cram in some more speakers.

The stock speakers are 6". i to thought they where 5.25" but i took the speaker to my stereo go and it was'nt even close to 5.25 ". 6.5" fits perfect but to get a good size magnet in you going to have to cut a piece of the braket out. if you look at the bracket at the top where the magnet sits there is about half a circle of plastic I cut it off with a dremel my 6.5" eclipse fit awesome.

Sounds like I'm going to 4 6.5's then, that'll be a great setup
Just need something to kick in a little bass, nothing overkill, a good 10" or something.

I have 6.5 and 5x7 too. The door ones will only take speakers with smaller magnets. I got Clarions. 5x7 I have Rockfords. The setup is decent since the speakers sound similar. I got them installed by a stereo shop. It took two visits. They cross wired the speaker the first time.
