FD Pedals!

Hey guys,

I've been looking for pedal extenders and haven't been able to find any so I decided to look at alternatives.

I read about some universal ones that someone used, unfortunately, I can't find the link anymore. I also found these...

http://www.abt-sportsline.de/en/tuni...m-pedals-2209/

What do you guys think? Can these be used on our cars?

PS.

There are two types of the generic ones:

1. Need to drill through the pedals to install
2. Have wrap around brackets to hold the pedals in place

I have done both on various cars so I'll pass along my experiences:

* Drilling. The downside is that you will ruin the stock pedals. If you use something that you not like, you can remove them but you'll have the holes you drilled still left.

* Brackets. Completely reversible without damaging the pedals. However, the brackets can and will snag shoe laces. Granted, your foot will not be under the pedal while driving but it happens when getting in and out of the car.

Most of the generic ones from Sparco, Momo or other will work fine with a little work. Just start browsing and see what you like.

I second the shoe lace problem. Not on my 7, but my other car. Also, over time they slip overs loosen up with vibrations and such and have to be re-torqued down. not a big deal really.

Use some blue lock-tite on them and they won't loosen up on you. I also suggest that for people who use shifters which have the little allen bolts.

I had a cheap set once on a different car, and my shoe got stuck under it. I had on low profile boots and when I went WOT, the shoe on my accelator foot got stuck under the brake pedal. It was very scary, as the road wasn't real long and I had to down shift and eventually pull the e-brake to stop. I almost ran out of road.

Moral of the story, if you install some with brackets, check to make sure this isn't an issue. The car in my reference wasn't an FD, so it may not apply.

i had some bracket ones on my old car. I found what helped was dremeling the excess bit of the allen bolt off once it was installed. my foot never got stuck.
