I know there is a thread on this but I spent all day searching about a week ago and came up with nothing.

Maybe someone else knows where to find it. I'll keep looking though.

I'm stoked to find this thread because I was wondering something. Maybe you guys can enlighten me. Is this completely stock?

Lemme rephrase that: Did the car stereo installer lose my orange lens when he installed my HU?

(thnx turboIIrotary for the pic)

I bumped for vivios question about the resistor. Does anyone know? I actually bought 2 extra LEDs for this but they had no resistors that I know of, maybe they did. My body shop installed them but they didn't test them out and they currently don't light. I thought maybe that was the reason why.

Door Lock LED

I looked through all the links and redirects in this post and wrote up this document correcting all the errors. My comments are in red. Hope someone besides me finds it helpful. I also did not know there was a light there.

I knew there was a light there, but I only bought the car like a week before I had a new head unit installed, so I wasn't positive about that or lens. I was kinda wondering because I THOUGHT the lighting around the ignition at night was different before the new Alpine was put in, but I wasn't 100% sure.

Now I might go down there and snap on those guys over that little orange lens. I guess those guys don't realize that FD parts aren't exactly common or easy to come by these days, even little trivial ones like that lens.

That lens IS from the factory, no?

EDIT: Sorry for the semi-threadjack, Supernaut.

I'll have to look into the LED lamps next time I have to replace mine. They SHOULD last forever....at least compared to the 'grain-of-wheat' incandescent bulbs...right?

could someone tell me what is supposed to trigger the light? I fixed mine with an LED and it works if i connect a 12v source to it. but when i reconnected the harness in the door panel. It is not recieving a 12v source. I'm curious what is supposed to trigger the light?

Pulling the door handle up triggers the light so you can see the key hole and not scratch up your door handle looking for the hole!
