yeah, you can get those rear flares from pettit. The only thing I dont' like about those flares is that one fo thme covers half of the gas lid. If they were molded into the body adn they covered up those rivets, then it would look pretty badass.
Would anyone happen to know how far the mazdaspeed flares come out?
I'm looking for huge flares. The biggest I can get. Becasue fender flares can never be too big

I heard that if you have the flares molded in they will crack eventually.

crack
if you blend fiberglass to metal it will crack eventually. If a body shop tells you it won't they are lieing. Somebody should take the fenders and have them made out of sheet metal and welded to the car.

Wow, nice shot of Dewain's car. He's is, or was, a Florida RX7 club member. Raced the car at Daytona, was closing in on the leaders, and got bumped by a slower car into the infield where the car suffered some damage to the Pettit GTC front copy. I "heard" that he sold the car not too long ago, which was a shame as it was set up quite nicely.
There are a number of over fenders, front and rear, from Japanese RX7 tuners. I know PanSpeed has a set for the front and I think for the rear too. Many however, just do the entire front 1/4 panel, like the later PanSpeed stuff or the RE Amemiya AD-GT kit.

2 reasons. First the bond beteen fiberglass and metal is weak. The metal panels on your car can flex with the frame, fiberglass doesn't flex so well. It's the fact the metal is flexing and the fiberglass is not, it puts all the stress on the joint. Or the epoxy is stronger than the fiberglass so when flexing occurs the crack happens above the seem.
If people are going to make them out of fiberglass they need to make them fit perfectly and have the mounting brakets underneath, so you can't see them. If I remember correctly didn't peter ferral have metal fender flares on his boosted miata. I though I heard a shop in va made them. Although I don't know how to work with sheet metal I wouldn't think a fender flare would be a hard project for someone in that line of work.
