FD--Bose Acustic Airwave Snake

Alright,so last year I tried to get these rear speakers working with an Alpine deck. I have great front sound but VERY little rear, not worth while. I have the Schoshe adapter and sent it back explaining how it did not fix my problem, they sent me another to try again. Snow is gone, and my garage is no longer frozen so I am about to attempt again. I was told with the Schoshe it was all plug and play. I do realize(can someone refresh) that one wire in the connector needs to be moved, can someone confirm which and where?

ALL people who have experienced this sound, is it worth while? Is it reasonable, decent boom, nothing "gangsta" but can someone enjoy music? Is it equivalent to any modern day stock vehicle like the (toyota echo) or "camry", or is the airwave system less of a boom then even basic units today. I am on edge of trowing in an 8-10" sub and calling it a day, but really not wanting to deal with my firewall(again ideas).

First an fore most. The airwave system when working, are you satisfied or disappointed? Thanks!

I have a aftermarket deck...metra harness, and schoshe adapter. everything was colour coded to match up exactly. I love my bose setup...for me its just fine. Has great base in the cabin but nothing that shakes windows and anoys grandma on her front porch

ps: i did not remove any wires from the adapter, if you search my name i believe there is a post i wrote on the schoshe adapter.

I'm also running the Bose system off an aftermarket Clarion deck and I like the way it sounds. The system has good bass inside the cabin and I think its a good system for what it is. I dont really have any complaints about it. Make sure all of the screws are tight on the snake because air leaks in the tube will make it sound weaker. I did this when I first got my car and the Bose snake sounded better right away. Hopefully you sort your system out.

this is the thread i had...not a ton of info but from reading it again, it seems the only piece you need is the harness (Metra or any other company you can find) along with the schoshe adapter. This will alow you to do all your wire splicing without cutting into the factory harness. And like i said in the post...all the colours matched up perfectly

If your looking to have good full sound to your car and want to free up some space, I would look into doing the DAMONB subwoofer box. You can free up more space along the sides of the hatch area, have more rich tone and still have very easy access to your spare tires and tool bins.

I am running mine off a pioneer deck and I listen to some of that gangsta crap everyonce and a while and I am very surprised at how good the thump is. I always think that I am pounding the neighborhood but when I get out of the car and walk a lil ways, the sound doesn't really leave our cars at all. I think its a unique and very effective setup actually but then again alot of people have replaced it so maybe my standards get set too easily.

A properly working bose system sounds great. The snake does have a deep base but it's not strong enough to be considered a boom box. That is why many owners say "bose blows". Those owners forget whom this car target audience was, and it certainly wasn't early 20 somethings who like to thump.

My first FD had a bose system. My second one didn't and I really missed it so I incorporated the bose snake. I had mine working properly, it sounds good. Was it worth it? After it was all said and done, no not really.

Why not? well I had to get my hands on a functional snake, had to get a competent installer that actually understood bose (there are lots of ignorance out there), had to source the carpet, and trunk cover (the trunk cover was a bitch to get given shipping prices). After all the time and money spent I realized that it wasn't really worth it.
