FD backseats, possibel swap out?

The US version of the FD never came with any type of backseats, the JDM versions came with backseats. Although they are really small, I plan on getting an FD soon and was wondering if there was some way I could put a JDM backseat into a US version FD. Sounds kind of stupid, but I have two little sisters that I help my mom drive around a lot. Anyone know of this sort of swap or if it's possible?

Yes, the swap is possible. I believe you have to remove the rear bins, rather than placing the seats over them.

I'd find a thread for you if i had more time to search, but i'm sure somebody else will chime in.

Yes the swap is possible. I did the swap myself.

You have to take out your rear bins and rear quarter panels and get the COMPLETE rear seat assembly. The new rear 1/4 panels are a bit wider (?) and have the slots for the rear seatbelts, if you want the complete look/function.

I didnt use the rear seatbelts as i did the conversion for cosmetics. Looks much better than bins and actually serves a better function.

If you want, i can take some pics for you but it will have to be when the weather is nice, probably this weekend i hope.

As already said.... yes you can.

Dont listen to the haters that might soon follow talking about how useless they are, and how people have to not have legs, etc etc.

I've used mine more than a few times. Its amazing what space people are willing to cram into when the alternatives are worst or non-existent

BTW....the swap will run you about $1000 in parts. FDNewbie can hook you up with everything you need. Will take a couple of months to get the parts though since they have to be sourced used from Japan.

wait a second, you want to make you twin seater into a 4 seater? That ridiculous, the twin seater option is the best. Your not going to fit much more than an infant in the back with or without seats.

In aus they are doing the reverse?

If you're that keen to do the swap, I would suggest finding someone in Austrailia or New Zealand who would like the bins and do a swap.

The seats really are useless though.

I am putting my hand up for the swap, I have the seats and side panels and want to convert to the bins! Thats if your keen. I could even get the seats re-covered for you for a bit extra as mine have a couple of small rips in them. Just had my hood lining (sunroof version) covered for NZD $100 including material.
