FC dashboard recovering

In regard to the 86-88 dashboard, there are these stitches that seem to be fake. They surround the glove box opening, instrument pod, and along the rear of the dash behind the idiot cluster (I think, I haven't seen my dash in a while--it's in the body shop).

I was wondering if the material could be stripped off, and new padded--modern--vinyl or leather could be used? Without the stitchings, and in a modern color (one that matches Celica GTS seats) the interior would look much more modern and smooth.

No idea but I'd love to see someone redo the nasty dash in an FC.

Not worth the effort IMO. If you elect do this, It's best to mould on top, rather than sand It down. Not much surface area before you reach the underlying layer.
