FC: Center Console for Stereo Install Question...

So my 88 had the stereo "removed' from it in a rather violent manor... Not sure why, wasn't that great of a head unit

Anyway, so I am going to put another head unit in it at some point and am starting from scratch at this point. I currently have a s5 center console in it but hate the way it fits and want to go back to a proper-fitting s4 version. With that, there are 2 choices in my situation.

The console for the 86-88 with CD player
and
The console for the 86-88 without CD player

However, I have neither as spares anymore and need to know which one would be better to use for a double DIN setup. The version without the CD player has more material on the sides of the cutout so that the hole is not as wide as on the version with the CD player. I am pretty sure that is the only real difference.

I would prefer to be able to ISO mount this thing (hate the plastic kits)...

Which one should I be looking for? What is going to make for a cleaner install?

use the s5 center but get a chassis from an s5
s4 sits offset to one side s5 seems more centered, maybe that is why you didnt like it before

either should allow you to bolt right up to the stock stereo chassis
I used to run a s4 chassis and center and only removed the one section of factory radio out to give it a stock appearance and kept the rest of the mazda stuff in there
