-----Type II-----
Type 2 - Spoon Style. I'd say it is more of a Mugen S1 style in plain color cloth. Cloth either come in Black or Red. The reason why I say it is more of a Mugen S1 rather than Spoon is because our Type 2 is not really a eggshell type. The Type II comes in FRP (Fiberglass) or BCF (Black Carbon fiber)

-----Type III-----
Type 3 - Recaro SPG Style - The fiberglass versions are Recaro SPG Style (Red or Black cloth). The Type III comes in FRP (fiberglass) or BCF (Black Carbon Fiber)

They look like nice seats! Do the sliders come with a place to mount the stock female seat belt connector?

oorx7 09-17-06 06:14 PM

GOTBANNED? 09-17-06 06:33 PM

I'm sure u will get alot of interest

afterburn27 09-17-06 06:44 PM

Could I get a PM also. Type III FRP, black. And shipping to 23113.

Also, do you know of anyone who has put these seats in an FD? As you might already know, space is limited in our cars.

I would go ahead and become a forum sponsor, you'll get plenty of interest.

Mahjik 09-19-06 03:10 PM

f1spec,

You'll probably get more business if you can find some local RX-7 owners to test fit your seats. A few years ago, Corbeau went through the same process, created brackets for the RX-7s and have had very good success with the RX-7 crowd afterwards.

*RX007* 09-20-06 01:31 AM

i only live an hour away ;)

Funkspectrum 09-20-06 03:33 AM

hey...I'm not too far away from you guys F1spec...

If you need an FC to test fit stuff, let me know and I can come out.....

Valkyrie 09-20-06 07:40 PM

I think the general consesus would be for the Type III seat...

Now, get us some of those without the embroidery on the cushion, FIA approval, and RX-7 (at least FD/FC...) specific seat bases (replacing the rusty old ones), with dual locking rails, for about 450 shipped, and you'd probably sell yourself a lot of seats (FRP, or carbon, if feasible)...

And no deal if the rails don't actually lower the eyeline... that sort of ruins the point of a fixed bucket seat.

I dont understand this. Why does lowering the eyeline matter? You sit low enough in an FD as is, I dont see why you'd NEED to lower yourself... In theory, a lower seat will lower the center of gravity of the car, but not by anything you'll be able to notice. The point of a fixed bucket seat is 2 thins: First, they save a ton of weight. Second, they HOLD YOU in the seat, rather than you holding yourself in the seat. Try some hard cornering in the stock leather seats and you'll feel yourself using your arm and chest muscles to push against the steering wheel to keep you from sliding around in the seat. A fixed racing seat with bolsters holds you tight, so that your arms stay relaxed and you are better able to make adjustments at the wheel and drive hundreds of laps around a track without wearing yourself out.

Valkyrie 09-21-06 12:53 PM

It's mainly for people who have little headroom (or just want more), basically anyone over near or over 6' tall, especially with a sunroof or a helmet. You also gain a bit of legroom, in the case in which the steering wheel hits your thighs (which was true when I still had the stock steering wheel in my car).

It also helps you to see the gauges properly if you have an aftermarket steering wheel.

You also gain a bit of clearance from any roll cage in the car (especially important for a street car with a roll cage, since you don't want to smack your head on it, especially without a helmet on).

And I realize the primary pupose is for increased hold (decreased weight is really a secondary concern, albiet a valid one).

The side mounts of most fixed buckets are adjustable anyway, but if the base isn't designed well enough to let you lower the seat (versus the stock position) in the lowest position, you lose one of the advantages of a fixed bucket.

I don't even own an FD, though... (I've only sat in one... a 2000 or so model in Japan. It could have used more legroom...).

BTW, I do realize my suggestion was a bit out there... I was simply stating what I thought were the optimal features for the price I thought most people would be willing to pay for a generic bucket seat, with rails. So basically, I was low-balling them :p No harm in that...

You must be short. :)

cabaynes 09-21-06 01:46 PM

Valkyrie, I see what you're saying. I'm a short guy like afterburn27 guessed :) so head/legroom isn't really a problem for me. The FD fits like a glove!

Valkyrie 09-21-06 02:44 PM

Hahaha, I guessed as much. I just didn't want to make any assumptions and end up looking like an ass if I was wrong :D

*RX007* 09-21-06 05:10 PM

im 6'2" an i wouldnt mind being a little lower on the car, i aso notice that when im making a right turn i try to look alittle futher in front of me but the rear view mirror is in the way, lowering the seat would help w/ that too.

Sgt. Pepper 09-21-06 05:20 PM

I live close and am down for test fitting in an FC :) We can see how this works with the stock S5 mouse seatbelt...

f1spec 09-25-06 01:51 PM

TTT thanx for al the people that came to our booth at HIN san francisco this past weekend ..

f1spec 10-02-06 03:21 PM

TTT for the new week

DarkKnightFC 10-02-06 07:14 PM

I would be interested in getting one if you could beat the Corbeau FX-1 price for seat and bracket. Which would be around $375 ish. The carbon is nice I'm just not into the whole carbon fiber deal because I would never see it unless I was looking in the hatch. \

Chris

audiobot7 10-03-06 10:17 PM

so how much is this?

AzEKnightz 10-04-06 07:11 PM

I m in SF too, where is the shop located? I dont mind having my car for test fit =)

p.s. You can call me stupid, but whats a sponsored seller?

f1spec 10-06-06 03:13 PM

kevlar coming soon

fritts 10-06-06 04:13 PM

I have corbeau A4's in my FD and they barely fit. I even removed the sliders. According to F1Spec's site their seats are wider and taller than the A4's so if you have an FD I have a hard time with thinking they'll fit. Has anyone even tried to yet?

ilike2eatricers 10-06-06 07:12 PM

Haha the car featured in honda tuning with those seats is my buddy's car

chinaman 10-06-06 09:55 PM

These are very nice looking seats. I'd very interested in the type 3 in carbon. Hopefully it's not too expensive.

f1spec 10-10-06 07:18 PM

which type seat are you looking when you're refering to it won't fit. i know the type 3 will fit the fc

fritts 10-11-06 10:23 AM

I looked at both sets of dimensions you have listed on your site. Almost all of which are larger than the A4. The A4 just barely fits the FD and I would say not all that well. So I really doubt they would fit the FD the FC is another story.

Mahjik 10-11-06 11:03 AM

Yep, I mentioned this to him a while back:

https://www.rx7club.com/showpost.php...0&postcount=28

I would still be interested to hear about them actually test fitting each seat in a RX-7's (all gens if possible).

afterburn27 10-11-06 12:46 PM

The shoulder height is identical to a Sparco EVO and the shoulder width is actually slightly smaller (.5 cm). I have seen a few FD's with EVO's in them, granted they barely fit, but I think the TypeIII will be a close fit.

I bought one black typeIII in FRP and have it sitting next to me. It is a nice seat, quality is on par or better than the Corbeau FX-1 pro's I have sat in before. I don't have a lot of seat time in Sparco's or Recaro's so I can't comment there.

I will try and test fit the seat in the car this weekend if I have time. I am slammed with work and interviews recently, so we'll see. If it doesn't fit I have another use for it, so no biggie. I will not be using sliders, BTW.

DJ_Merle 10-11-06 03:52 PM

could I get a pm on pricing and shipment to Canada, thanks in advance.

Valkyrie 10-12-06 01:25 PM

I still don't think we've got a straight answer about FIA ratings?

fritts 10-12-06 02:32 PM

I pm'd them about this and FIA rating is twice the cost of the regular seat.

Valkyrie 10-13-06 12:13 AM

I'm curious as to why, personally...

I don't see how they could possibly make the seats any different since they're apparently buying them from a single factory in Asia, and if the price increase was because of testing required, I simply can't beleive that every seat would have to be tested invididually. That would be like crash-testing every car that is sold. Safety items are typically only intended to be used once before being replaced (or at least inspected)...

Or do just test seats until they get one that doesn't break, and sell it with an FIA sticker?

If they seats were that dissimilar in quality, I'm not sure how much confidence you could have in it's safety, even for the ones that passed any testing.

Unless it's just an insane markup based on the fact that people want FIA seats? You could get a Bride or a Recaro for that price.

Well, looks like I wont get around to installing this seat for a while. :(

The front eccentric shaft/main pulley bolt backed out on the highway last night causing a huge mess and most likely destroying the thrust bearing and wahsers under the front cover. Maybe more damage to the internals depending on how much oil stayed in the engine for the short time it was running and spewing oil.

So I am having it towed back to a friend's place in Richmond while I finish up this semester at VT.

At least I can sit in my seat and pretend like I'm driving the FD. :ugh2:

fc3sfreek 10-23-06 01:36 AM

so is there an update about anything about this seat?

Tranquil 10-23-06 02:59 PM

I decided to order one of the Type II seats on sale for 250shipped with sliders and side mounts today.

I'll give a complete review on them and if they fit in my FB when they arrive. Then we'll know what's what.

EDIT: Hopefully if I like them enough, and write a comprehensive enough review I might be able to get a good deal so I can get a passenger seat.

f1spec 10-23-06 05:30 PM

we have new in stock for the peoples who would like a better option for rails/sliders/brackets. we have the buddyclub super low downs that will fit all of our seats. and it only takes 15 mins to install.

theyre botht he same seats correct? fiberglass?

f1spec 10-23-06 06:10 PM

they are both the same seat just different color. thats our type 2

Valkyrie 10-25-06 08:47 PM

Well, how much are the rails?

Do you have them for the FC?

Also, how much is shipping on a single seat and rails? (assuming you leave out your free rails)

(ah nm, I remember it's 75 bucks... but that doesn't really seem reasonable)

I might be able to buy a seat in a few weeks.
