ebay: has anyone bought from carbon_innovation

I'm looking at this scoot replica on e-bay it sells for $499... Supposedly it's VIS. Since ViS sells their hood for $738 +shipping of course I called them and asked them about it. Not a real ViS hood.

ViS is aware of this individual and contacted ebay. Problem that ViS stated is that this carbon fiber hood fades. Which I don't care cuz I'm not into the whole mismatch unpainted hood thing.

Now has anyone bought from him/them? How was the fitment?

Edit: I just read what I wrote (kinda like hearing yourself talk). It's ridiculous... Yeah hood is being sold under a fake name, carbon fiber fades. So I asked myself what does that say about quality? Even if it fits good it is very likely that the fiberglass is thin.

sooo nevermind guys. I'd rather forkout the extra cash for the real ViS. Which in it's self is an oxymoron since the Vis is a replica of the scoot lol

You are obviously refering to a different company, not Carbon Fiber Innovation, right? Is this an ebay store, or is there a website?

It will fade if it is not UV protected and/or clearcoated, and any CF over time in the sun will fade a little. You have to take care of it like a real nice paint job. BTW do you have a link to this hood?

yes that is, they are only on ebay, a huge company, and VIS is bullshitting you, there is really no way that it can be much different. they are trying to discredit that product so you will buy from them. If you are worried about it, have it claercoated a couple extra coats after buying it, as long as fittment is good and craftsmenship is quality. You still get off cheaper. I bet they both outsource to similar companies for production, I have no idea though.

At first I thought Montego was talking about..

to answer your question, I would just bought the hood straight from VIS. I've bought 2 VIS hoods for myself (scoot replica) and 2 others for the local guys and they all fit great!

By the way, Jason is the man about CF stuff.

Sonix lol! I had no idea your company's name was carbon innovation. Sorry about that.

Yeah I'd figured $239 ($738-$499) is not too much to to ask for peace of mind.

Herblenny if you don't mind me asking: how much did you pay for your hood? Because I remembered someone stating that Vis price range is around $600's. Did they go up or something?

its ok man I am actually Carbon Fiber Innovation. very similar and I had no idea there was an E-bay store named that. I don't advertise, I go word of mouth for my stuff. So it may be hard to find me. Not on the forum though. You can always find me here. Thanx for all the nice words for me on my work. I appreciate people noticing my work, must mean I am doing good to hear the nice responses. I have been at this for around 5 months, give me a year and see what happens!!

Found a better deal that I'm comfortable with.

ok well I just purchased a seibon hood (good quality) from a local seibon vendor here in San Diego. $645 after taxes and of course no shipping since they are local. They sell theirs way below the manufacturer's suggested retail price BTW.

If I would had gone with the ebay people it would had been $499 + $80 - $100 in shipping. I'd much rather spend the extra $50 bucks to know exactly what I'm getting since it's from a reputable source.

Did this company you bought the Seibon Scoot ST hood have it in stock or did you buy it and they haven't told you that's it's on backorder, for who knows how long, because I've been trying to get my hands on a Seibon hood and I've gone no where.???

more info:

No there isn't one in stock. At the vendor's shop nor at Seibon (I called ). Seibon says that they have a 2 month wait on these. Pann auto (where I purchased it from) said that it's most likely a one month wait (from their experience) but to not hold my breath nor hold them to it. Which is fine. I'm no hurry to get it since I'm still waiting for my tax return check in order to paint my car.

Edit: I'm due to call them on Thursday to get a real time frame of when they expect to have my hood in. I'll let you know what they say.

Oscar8404 ,

ok update time. So the vendor asked Seibon about the status of the hood. Seibon replied that they don't have an actual date of when the hood would come in. They would not even give a ballpark figure. WTF? who does business like that? I mean for all we know it could be six months.

So I gave the go ahead to quote me from ViS. Vis can have the hood in three weeks but it cost $100 more. bummer... He has another supplier which supplies the hood for $550 ($50 less than Seibon) and it come in in 1 week. They assured me good fitment but the carbon fiber is not the same quality like ViS. Which I don't care because it's getting painted anyway.

Oscar8404 ,

Dude just order it. Seibon will come through. I got my Seibon hood like 3 weeks ago. Exactly 5 weeks after my order was put in.

Pann auto could not order from Vis cuz of someweird stuff. So we went with the other vendor that actually sells them cheaper. As it turns out this vendor was also lagging and all the while my order with Seibon was never cancelled. So I had two hoods coming but only liable for one.

The Seibon hood arrived first The fitment is good but the vents arent as agressive as other scoot hoods out there. Which is fine by me
