downward facing subs

i have recently purchased two 8 inch subs for my rear strut towers in my 90 gxl. However someone told me today that there is not enough air in the towers for the subs to perform at peek. So what can i do?..... i dont really want to build a box, and i cant return them.

can i put them upside down... on the strut towers?

I would suggest building a box for ANY sub. You could put them in your factory spots, you would still get good bass if they are good quality subs with enough watts to power them. But if your looking for the best sound quality and everything, build a small box and put them in it. Building a sub box is very simple btw.
