Does undercoating work the same way as Dynamat? ASAP, please...about to start...

I'm about to do the interior work on my car...with the sound deadening.

I went to all the auto parts stores I could find, and the only thing I've been able to pick up was this stuff called Permatex Undercoating.

It says that it has SUPERIOR sound insulation..bla bla.

My question is...is Undercoating the same thing as the dynamat spray-on stuff? Every person I asked in the store pointed me to the Undercoating stuff.

Will this work?

No problemo..

I've went ahead and started, since it took so long. I don't have much time, I'm working Sat & Sun, so I said f' it.

I sprayed the interior door panel, along with the interior to the door. It says it needs about two hours drying time, but it's kinda cold outside.

I made sure to tape off the electrical components and the outer edges to give it a clean appearance. It looks pretty good for sprayed on sludge.

We'll see soon...

I've also taken a look at the handle covers and I can definetly see why there's so much squeaking go on when you open and close the doors. There's nothing soft or plyable inbetween the handles and the vinyl doors...nothing. So it's just plastic squeaking against plastic foam. Nasty.

I'm going to put a thin film of rubber and use electrical tape to but some buffer between the two. See if that helps eliminate the flex.

I'll take some pics in a bit.

It worked alright..but it STANK..and took forever to dry. I recommend using the rubber based spray by 3M.

SOOOO much better (still stinks)..but I think the left door has less twang than the right door now.

I'm considering dynamatting the thing anyways.

One things for sure, it sounds a HELLUVA lot better now. I posted in FD GD about banishing the demons...it's definetly alot quieter now!!
