dent removal

Hey guys, I've got a dent that's probably about 1/3 of an inch in, and a couple inches high and a couple inches wide. It's at my front (not sure what the panel's called), driver's side right before the bumper. I was thinking of taking apart the wheel well cover, and hammering it back out. From what i've heard, the metal should pop right out back into place just like a pop can does when there's a dent in it. Is that true? Or is there a lot more to this?

I would take the "fender" to a professional paintless dent removal business such as "Dent wizards" Or whomever is in your local phone book. Generally it shouldn't cost over $150 American

Dents don't pop out that easily and chances are that it wont pop out at all.

You can't take a hammer, and 'pop' out the dent on our body panels. You will only create a nastier dent in the metal (I know, because I had a dented fender that I replaced, and decided to hammer it for the hell of it- fun, but no good).

You would be able to take the dent out with a plunger type dent remover however with something that small i really don't know. but yes the metal would "just pop out". that's basically what the people at the shop are going to do with it. problem being is that if you like tap it again or press on it with a good deal amount of pressure it'll just pop right back in. so yeah you can do it. but i would take it to a shop.

FD body panels (with the exception of the hood, front and rear bumpers) use steel body panels. A dent in the fender is not going to 'pop out' by suction methods, or hammering.

Always leave that to the a body shop. Even if it does "pop out" it will never look like new.

I just ran a search but can't find the thread. I seem to remember a guy with a thread (complete with photos) using one of those "as seen on TV" hot glue dent pullers on an Acura.

The photos looked great and it seemed to work well. I wouldn't try it, but just a thought.

. . . I'm still trying to figure out my ginzu knives.

Hi, Ive been a dent tech 5 years now and I guarantee you that If you take it to a good dent tech it can be repaired to perfection. The important thing about this craft is not the size of the dent but the location and how deep it is.

The dent has to be 2 iches from the edge of the panel and the metal can not be stretch. If this thing happend the dent cannot be repaired to 100%.

How we do this? well we access the dent from behind the panel with rods and massage the dent out. You cannot hit the dent or pull off because you are making a counterforce in the metal and that will stretch it. I have not seen yet a dent be repaired to perfection with other method than PDR ( Paintless Dent Removal).

Just find a good tech because there are too many cheap ones around messing cars. If you whant I can help you find a good tech in your area.

Good Luck

They'll usually give you a price for doing all the dents on the car, which is probably only a couple hundred bucks.
