The Definitive Tan to Black FD Interior Thread:

You wont find any in junkyards unless your very quick, its a high demand car and they get sorted out by the owners usually.
Update: Duplicolor Vinyl & Fabric Coating is seeming to be stronger than the VHT equivalent. I purposely dropped a crescent wrench on a cured door panel . . . nothing, not a scratch. The VHT on the plastic though? so far . . HORRIBLE, might take a nylon wire brush to the parts I've done and either coat them with Duplicolor Bumper Coating or black Ultrasuede.

I would recommend using the product called plasti dip for all the plastic peices. It comes out looking awesome. The key is to do a good prep job on the parts and then take your time. 3 to 4 coats and you are set....i have redone about 20 pieces thus far. All of them have sold on the forum.
I am having my second set of tan door panels recovered by the upholstery shop i use. They do a fantasic job and it's only $350 for both doors.
I am thinking i may let them recovery the trans tunnel to match the doors.

I have an "s" model that came with black vinyl seats and carpet. I redid the seats with a camel color cloth and camel carpet too. The difference was night and day since my "s" has no power accessories - no air!! That car was undriveable in hot weather even with the windows rolled down. I'm sure you have "air" but I am really pleased with the switch. The seats were redone by a reputable company in town - they made up all the carpet based on the factory templates they dug up - I installed foil heat and sound proofing under the new carpet which made a noticeable difference.

fastrx7man, where is it that you get your plati-dip? I had an idea I'm gonna try and can't seem to put my finger on the thread that states the stores that carries it.
Static, how goes everything? I've begun reinstalling parts and doing the same as far as wear tests, yet instead of wrenches I just left mine in my daughters "PLAY" room. After weeks of beating and banging, dinosaurs, matchbox cars, and barbie dolls, they still look great. The one piece that was scratched had only 1 coat. So 2 coats for everything from here on out. It might up the cost, but I think it will increase the durability. Nothing destroys stuff like a child. LOL. Much like most of the forum looks down on a young driver getting a RX-7. Pics as soon as I find my camera.

Looks great, I've had to put mine on hold for some time now, bc of all the work I've had to do lately. Great job on the speaker brackets, I'll have pics of them on my shop table when I make some for myself.
