I have a RFP3210(10" Fosgate"). I haven't put together the box yet, but I know It's a little big for the box, so I'm gonna put a one inch extra layer of wood around the hole. The reason I got it is cause it was $54 new. =)

I'll be putting the Audiomobile EVO 2210 S4 in.
Unless I get cold feet, in which case, I'll be putting the Image Dynamics IDQ10 V.2 D2 in.

I'm with you, I'm going to get the audiomobile evo too, I like all the good reviews and the looks of the sub, I've got my 10+ year old JL Audio sub in there now. If you get it first, let me know what you think, and I'll do likewise.

My JL is also about 10 years old. Let me know what you think if you switch, Alaskan7.

Ok...assembled the sub box today. (man, it goes quick with a brad nailer + a circle cutter adapter for a router). The Audiomobile EVO 2210 needs a 9.25" opening to fit. Not to mention the basket frame is 1.5" deep at that opening. So i routered the top and bottom pieces with the circle cutter adapter to that depth. The sub drops right in. However, the overall diameter for the sub is around 10.25" so it sticks past the height of the box.

I'll report how it fits in the car and the sound quality when i get my cables and finish off the install.

Thx, Damon....nice work on the box!

Nope...the way the W7 mounts require a bigger surface to clear the ring. Also, the W7 needs a bigger box to operated efficiently. Not to mention that u need a huge amp to run that sucker.

What happens if I use a sub with a minimum enclosure size that it slightly larger than the box? These enclosures are 0.75cuft and the sub I'm looking at recommends 0.8 or more. Does this make it not as clear or just limit low-end frequency response?

A W7 also needs SERIOUS bracing and/or thicker wood. JL calls for 1" MDF or double stacked 5/8" MDF for the W7s.

It will work fine. On the bad side, having a smaller box will make the response curve peaky, probably around 40-60 hz. And it won't go quite as low. On the good side, putting it in a smaller sealed box will increase the effective power handling and the max SPL.
